The plastic feels like its fairly heavy duty and it hopefully solves the problem for a very long time.

This shift cable bushing is a great replacement for the factory one. It's made of high-quality materials and is very easy to install. I've been using it for a few months now and it's been working great. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a 2003-2006 Wrangler TJ. I bought a second to keep in the glovebox in case I have issues again out on the road.

Used on 2006 wrangler interior under console transmission linkage that disappeared. Was very tight to install but will fit just be patient. Cheaper and much less work then new cable.

It was a pain to install, but got it on none the less. It’s very sturdy and now I’m confident my shifter cable will not come undone from the actual transmission gear selector

After reading reviews about this being hard to install, here's what I did and it worked great. Use some grease. I used plumbers grease because that's what I had laying around. Some Lithium grease would work. I bet even spit would work. Use some long needle nose pliers to snap the bushing into the cable end first. Then snap the cable end with bushing onto the shift module. easy peasy.
