My indoor cat somehow got fleas. He has a really fine undercoat, so they had a great hiding place. My cat has never really liked to be brushed or combed but I think he let me use this since it felt good on his itches. I was worried about this working with his fine undercoat, but the comb worked REALLY well pulling out fleas (dead and alive) as well as flea dirt. (It was actually pretty disgusting.)Just to be sure I didn't let live fleas loose, I soaked a paper towel in water with some Dawn dish soap, squeezed it out and used that to wipe the comb after it started getting full of hair. I used another paper towel to dry the comb and then put all of the used towels in a Ziploc baggie before tossing it.I'm very happy about the way this comb worked but it has created a monster. Now my cat wants to be combed every day! I'll take it since it helps make sure we don't have another flea problem and gets rid of a lot of loose hair.

I am extremely happy with this comb. I bought it for my Morkies who has hair not fur. I had found one flea that I was able to pick off but the comb took off the eggs.It is perfect I would think for any pet, cat or dog. The teeth are very close together so they catch everything.

Buen peine para quitar pulgas y garrapatas a los gatos, aunque es un poco duro, hay que tener cuidado o se puede lastimar a los mininos.

This comb, used as directed, is only a PART of getting rid of fleas. Yes, it will rake through the hair on the lower part of the back near the animal's tail and on the neck areas (areas where fleas hang out the most because animal cannot get to them easily) and get out the live fleas and take eggs out of the hair. I use a wet paper towel to wipe the wet comb through as I do a deep combing. You will probably not see the eggs as they are tiny. But you might see pepper-like sprinklings which are actually the feces of the female flea. And if the sprinklings are recent, when you wipe the comb through the paper towel, you may see the flecks give off red from the flecks being more recent with fresher blood. We use a many pronged approach to getting rid of fleas. Our completely indoor cats someway got fleas. We used CAPSTAR for the immediate relief of scratching and biting. But CAPSTAR lasts only 24 hours, but your pets will FEEL so much better and both you and the pets may get better SLEEP. Meanwhile, we had ADVANTAGE II in the two different sizes (under 8 pounds and over 8 pounds) offered for controlling fleas on cats coming from AMAZON. I read a LOT about mixing CAPSTAR with ADVANTAGE II before sometimes overlapping the CAPSTAR until we began to make a LOT of progress on the misery of the cats. You will need to do your own research about that, but we went ahead and did it because of the dire misery our kitties were having over a pretty minute infestation. Some cats react horribly to only three or four fleas!Meanwhile, we used a wide spraying insecticide, PRECOR, which kills live fleas, eggs, larvae and pupae on your floors and upholstery. Once it is dry, your pets and you can enter a room. We covered three rooms a day for a few days and that worked great. Flea bombs do NOT get under sofas or into out of the way areas very well and have very difficult to follow directions. And we bought BIO SPOT carpet treatment, not for the carpets themselves, but to have INSIDE the vacuums' dust bin areas. That way, we were not vacuuming up any of the above stages of a flea's life and letting them proceed to multiply the numbers. BIO SPOT kills all stages of fleas just like the PRECOR which you have sprayed on just about every surface in your home. Some people dispose of each and every bag used but if they had some of this powder inside the bags, that would not be necessary. Vacuuming for weeks and weeks and weeks (and sometimes months as the development of the eggs, larvae, and pupae is variable on temperature and humidity)is REALLY necessary. ONE female may lay fifty eggs in ONE DAY and she may live several weeks. Meanwhile, her offspring are having a jolly time developing and beginning THEIR own reproduction process and attacks...."VICIOUS CIRCLE," doesn't begin to describe what all happens. THAT is why you really HAVE to do all the recommended steps....not one, not two, not three, but ALL of the steps. Religiously! Now, the comb does remove fleas from your pet, but only those who don't run to another area of your pet or jump OFF your pet while you are combing. No, what we use this very efficient comb only for judging PROGRESS in our multi-pronged approach. Every day saw progress. To be honest, I've only seen three small LIVE fleas come off the comb this whole time, but we have seen plenty of the "flea dirt." Therefore, this comb has removed probably many, many eggs, not allowing them to fall off where they wanted to but being caught up in the wet, paper towel and disposed of in a sure-fire way As weeks went on, less and less and less "flea dirt," has been found and the cats are very comfortable now. HOWEVER, some of the missed fleas DO multiply as time goes by. Just when you may think it is all over, a cat may begin scratching AGAIN! We are continuing with the CAPSTAR only when absolutely necessary and are continuing to use the ADVANTAGE II. And we use the BIO SPOT inside the iRobot bins and in the dust bins of the Dyson Animal hand-held vacuums. We use the vacuums ALMOST everyday on pet areas and wherever the animals walk. The eggs fall off of the pets as they walk and someway as the stages develop, manage to get to darker, out of the way areas to develop...….the pupae stage is the most difficult to kill as it forms a hardened shell around the flea, so make sure you get products which say they kill the PUPAE stage of the flea.ANYHOW, I wish I had had all of this info as we began our fight against the fleas which mysteriously appeared inside our home. This summer, with its heat and humidity, has been "flea heaven." Apparently, even homes with no pets are having problems! These fleas can really jump and you might not ever be able to tell where they came from, but we DO know that you must do ALL the steps to get rid of every single flea for the long term! Even after you think you have control, you really MUST continue with the monthly pet treatments, unfortunately. Fleas carry cat scratch fever and can also spread tapeworms if your cat swallows a flea in their biting to seek relief.....sorry, but you MUST do it all. This comb is a HELP but not a panacea!

I can't even guess how many flea combs I've purchased during my life, well since I was old enough to have pets of my own anyway. I've tried double row combs which I don't like (because fleas tend to get caught between the rows and simply drop out), I've had super fancy squishy handled combs that have teeth covered in something so slick, the fleas just slide right off. But hey, at least the handle makes a great a stress relieving tool! All that being said, this comb is by far my favorite! It does best on finer coats, cat or dog (but really fine dog hair). The one thing that makes this comb stand out from a LOT of other combs is that the part of the comb in which the teeth are inserted is not BLACK!!! I've yet to figure out why ANY flea comb manufacturer thinks grabbing super dark brown to black fleas using a comb with a black background is a good idea! The brighter the area where the teeth insert, the better. I almost bought a different comb that was displayed in the picture as being yellow but then I read the "small print" and saw that the comb was actually a blue darker than this! Grrr!So anyway, I definitely recommend this comb and this color to cat owners in particular. I usually add water to a container like an old sour cream bucket or something similar and THEN only AFTER I put water in it I put dish soap into it (you don't need to use harsh chemicals). Why not the other way around? Flea circus anyone? Fleas are amazing at escaping as we all know, but MAN! Can they ever jump off soap bubbles! Nasty little beasts! Most of the time I'm able to simply tap them (especially males and young ones) off the comb (QUICKLY!!!) but sometimes the big mommas (literally the big female fleas) get stuck in between the teeth of the comb and I have to pinch the comb on each side to get her out. But at least they stay there stuck and don't jump away! Oh! This comb is also fantastic at picking up flea "dirt" which is really our pets' dried blood and the fleas' um...end product, on which I've recently learned eggs can be laid upon. This is completely irrelevant flea trivia but if fleas weren't so disgusting, I would almost admire their ability to adapt and survive. Did you know it's only the females who feed on blood? And what really blew me away is that fleas actually pupate! They actually spin a cocoon....A COCOON!!! That's just one reason they're so hard to get rid of. They are able to stay tucked away dormant in our yards and homes for a LONG time until a nice meal comes by!Sorry if I grossed you out too much!Overall, this is an amazing flea comb!
