Product Description

Rain Bird SSF70-50S Drip Irrigation Pressure Compensating 1/2" (0.700" outside diameter) Sub-Surface Emitter Tubing with Copper Shield Technology, 18" Emitter Spacing, 50' Roll, Copper colored. Rain Bird's patented Copper Shield Technology prevents plant roots from growing into the Drip emitters in this unique copper-colored 1/2" Drip tubing. "The Copper-Color Outside Ensures that the Copper Shield is Inside!" Patent-pending Copper Shield Technology is the latest innovation in the Rain Bird Drip Irrigation family protecting emitters from root intrusion for a long-lasting maintenance free system. Sub-surface Drip tubing provides 90% watering efficiency by irrigating plants directly at their roots with low-pressure emitters. Rain Bird's patented emitter design uses a pressure-compensating diaphragm technology to water all plants equally throughout the length of tubing. The design avoids clogging by continuously flushing debris through an extra-wide turbulent flow path. The low-profile emitter reduces in-line pressure loss; allowing longer lateral runs to simplify system design and reduce installation time. The 50' roll of 1/2" tubing features an emitter every 18" with an output of 0.9 gallon-per-hour at an operating pressure of 8.5 to 60 psi. Rain Bird's copper colored dual-layered tubing (copper over black) provides unmatched durability and resistance to UV damage, chemicals and algae growth. A proprietary material blend provides industry leading flexibility allowing tighter turns with fewer elbows for fast and easy installation. Perfect for small, narrow and tight planting areas, as well as areas with tight curves or many switchbacks. Compact coiling method allows tubing to remain coiled as its extracted; making it easy to use, store and eliminates waste. Unique Micro-Porous design creates an ultra-tight connection; tubing expands over fittings then shrinks making it almost impossible to remove without cutting. The resulting seal is completely leak-proof and fittings won’t pull out; just cut tubing to remove fittings and expand. Tubing accepts Rain Bird Easy Fit Compression, Barbed Insert and all other 17mm barbed insert fittings. Specifications: outside diameter 0.700", inside diameter 0.580", wall thickness 0.060". Operating pressure: 8.5 to 60 psi. Flow rate: 0.9 GPH. Rain Bird "The Intelligent Use of Water"

I had this drip line installed at my last house by a landscaping company, who spoke highly of the quality and copper to keep out roots. This emitter line is easy to cut and connect to fittings, especially on a warm and sunny day. The only challenge is that it wants to coil back up after unrolling, so be prepared to use something to hold it down or have someone help. I wish I would have waited for someone to be home to help since the landscape staple things I was using were popping out of the soft soil. Also, if you will be using this in a grid pattern and not just a straight run, you will need more than you think. I quickly ran out and needed another roll. I'm glad it's a good price and Amazon has fast shipping.I now no longer need to pull my hose across my yard to water a patch of wildflowers on a hill behind a tall retaining wall. My sprinkler timer and the drip lines now take care of it.

I use this in my flower beds. Almost as good as Netafim drip line.

Installed a subsurface drip irrigation system to alleviate foundation movement. Hardest part was digging the hole. The Rainbird drip line was easy to cut, bend, and install. Great system, will update in 6 months after testing foundation movement again.

Product matched what was installed in my home. Easy to work with you need to remember to cut far enough away from any hold as it has about 2 inches around the hole where it is reinforced so you don't want to cut close to a hole, just keep that in mind and you will have no issues with fittings pushing in especially if you heat it up a bit.

I tee'd this into an existing drip line. The thin wall kinks somewhat easily so you need to be careful when installing it when making smaller loops. The copper coating is a nice feature.

We just installed this at 12 inch spacing and run it for 3 minutes twice a day and it has been great. I hope it continues to work so well. I was surprised there was little advertising or promotion making me wonder if there were problems with clogging but I see none after a month. Unfortunately, moles have managed to find a path above my mesh, above these irrigation lines!

very reliable; it doesn't get clogged. I run several hundred feet of these throughout my yard. it saves water. I use it with my Skydrop smart controller. I gave it 4 stars because it is very pricey compared to other products out there.
