Highly recommend this product! The easy to follow instruction booklet made putting the webbing on so simple. Our chair looks brand new!

This kit was super convenient for the first time doing a re-caning effort. Worked like a charm and chair looks great. The hardest part as many have said is removing the old spline. The specialized chisel is worth it, otherwise you don't need anything special.

My first recaning project, and it turned out perfectly. The enclosed illustrated directions were easy to follow. The directions also had a QR code linking to a youtube video, which was helpful for some additional tips and strategies.

I am so pleased with this purchase! It was an easier project than I feared. The instructions were clear and accompanied by photos of each step. A video link was included but I never watched it as there was no need. If you look closely, you will note that the supplied spline was just 1/8" short for the two seats combined, but I will fill that gap with wood putty. The package isn't specifically designed for canoe seats, so I'm feeling pretty lucky there was enough spline to do the job.Although installation of the new can is easy, removal of the old cane and spline is a chore. The old cane and spline, having been glued in, do not like to come out cleanly. Much cutting, prying, and scraping is required. But unlike with a piece of furniture, I was able to soak both seats in the water to soften the old cane and spline. This made the removal and cleaning process much easier, though it was still a job.

Read the reviews and even watched a number of YouTube videos of fixing a chair. Felt confident to DIY a fix after I was quoted $200 per chair. The booklet was insightful and helped me get over bumps along the way and the pegs worked well.

It was well made and had quite good instructions. It only took an hour or so to install. The hardest part was removing the old seat. I started with chisels and carving knives, but ultimately went to a Dremel Tool with a diamond cutting blade. That did the job in short order. The chisels came in handy then for cutting out all the old material glued to the sides of the channel.Seating the new material was a little trick, but was facilitated by a good soaking and then inserting it into the slot with a motion that put more initial pressure on the outside tense than on the inside. Pushing it down with more pressure on the inside was more likely to break the material.

I've bought this kit once before to replace the cane seat to my Restoration Hardware chairs. I had never replaced a seat before and while it was time consuming to clear out the previous seat and then install the new one, it was straightforward. If you're somewhat craft type person, you could do this. You will need to stain the caning to match your chair, but I didn't bother since I use seat cushions. While the price ($36 product plus shipping) seems high for one chair. i called two different furniture places and they both wanted $100 to replace seat of one chair. If you're a little bit hesitant, don't be. I watched a youtube video and had no problem.

Great kit for a first timer would have gave this Five stars if the piece was perfectthere were several frays in some of the weaving that I had to nip out with some cutters and a couple of strands broke as I was installing the spline- probably my fault for being a first timer Looked great when I was done ,The directions were good and clear to understand with good pictures for the how to do it stuff
