Great disc. I’ve used the 60’s and the 80’s. They last a long time.

It works well initially as expected but the hook and loop does not stick well to the sander. Initial hold is fine but after a few minutes of sanding the material gives out and eventually the sandpaper comes flying off and will not stay on after trying to reapply, and will have to get a new piece. There is still good life left of the sandpaper just wont loop itself back onto the sander.

I thought the right way to shop for 5 inch sanding discs was to check the customer satisfaction and go with the product that had the right stars / dollar ratio. So, I bought the POWERTEC 45006 discs being reviewed here. Here's the application I needed them for: I had built a table and finished it and the finish never cured properly. The surface, AFTER MORE THAN A YEAR, was sticky. Crazy, right? The client (my daughter) didn't need the table till now, so it was sitting in her bedroom waiting for her. She's an adult and lives 150 miles away and until recently was living in a furnished house w/ friends. So she didn't need the table. She moved out and into an unfinished apartment and needs the table. So, I went and took it apart so that she can drive it back when she comes to visit next. I was very surprised to see the table needed help, but that's where these sanding discs come in.I used a cabinet scraper and 60 grit sandpaper to remove the uncured finish. It was a lot of work, but I'm retired and I love working w/ wood, so no problem. I bought a pack of 25 of these Powertec discs and went through them (actually about half of them) pretty quickly, as the gummy finish loaded the sandpaper and rendered it useless. But, until it did, each disc did its job.I needed more discs quickly so I went to the local Home Deport and found a pack of 15 discs and they were made by Diablo, the saw blade people. Before using the first Diablo disc I inspected carefully the condition of the table surface I was up to, and I saw some scratch marks from the random orbit sander I was using and the Powertec discs wasn't doing anything to remove these scratches.I got the Diablo disc onto the RO sander and the scratches were gone in seconds. So, without this comparison, I would have thought the Powertec discs would have been just fine. Then I made the comparison. The Powertec discs were about 23 cents / disc while the Diablo discs were roughly 63 cents / disc.I guess this brings me back to that adage that you get what you pay for. I'm not convinced that a 5 inch disc is worth 63 cents a piece, but one does get something for the extra cents. I'm not sure which one I'll go with next time. But, I will be more aware.

I purchased a Dewalt sander and needed disks. I decided to buy this cheap POWERTEC pack of 25 (7.99) and also a more expensive Dura Gold 25pk (17.99). Yes the Dura Gold are better but for the price the POWERTEC 45004 are pretty darn good for the price. I had no issues with them sticking to the sander pad (actually stuck very good) I did notice the edge wore more than the Dura Gold when it made contact with vertical metal. But that's to be expected. Overall great pads. just make sure to press it firmly and evenly to the pad before sanding and there shouldn't be any issues.

These powertec sanding discs really do the job. Fast removal and last a longtime before requiring changeout. I first purchased the 21 inch belts and was so impressed, I purchased the hook discs also. Can't go wrong.
