Lots of debate on whether these are really necessary. They are pricey and , let's face it, points are tried true. I decided to bite the bullet and install them in my two old Willys Jeeps. Easy to install though, IMHO, the wires are a bit fragile. Can't say I really noticed improvement but at least I won't have to mess with points or failed condensers any more. Not having a lot of road time yet, I still carry the points parts just in case. Of course, with old Jeeps I carry lots of spare parts };~)

I was having issues with missing on my 1954 M38A1 for long time. I replaced the point, condenser and even the coil not once but a few times, but I could not get a good consistent spark. Spark was real weak with occasional miss on all four plugs.I installed this electric ignition today and Jeep started right off the bat, no missing. I was able to set the timing with the gun and lower the idle rpms to 600. Finally it is running the way it should be.

I installed this in my 24 volt military Jeep. Got tired of cleaning and adjusting points and setting timing. Once installed just reset timing ONCE and it runs flawlessly every day. If you're worried about the electronics ( I'm not) keep your old points plate in the vehicle to switch back with a screw driver in about 10 minutes.

Installed in M38a1, had to do some trimming on plate, but worked outstanding. Well worth the price! Has any one installed in M38 distributor? Also installed MV-161 unit in M37B1, same result. Great product!!!!!

This is a real problem solver on a M38A1 and it works great! Quick starts, smooth idol and acceleration is perfect too. Get yourself one and your original 24 volt system will thank you. Plus, you'll never ever have to set or replace points again!!!

I just bought this kit for my 1953 M38A1 . The Jeep has never run better and it was easy to install.I would recommend this product to every M38A1 jeep owner. Much better then the old points and condenser !Thanks to PerTronix for making this product , And thanks to Amazon for selling it to me . Great customer service from amazon !!
