Unscrew and remove the Schrader valve on the spark plug end of this extension for leakdown testing. Replace valve for compression testing.

This is a fine tool but it won't work for the exact application I bought it for- 4V Modular 'Navigator' heads. the tool itself is long enough but the threads on the tool don't quite reach the threads on the head.

works great for DOHC engines. Schrader (tire valve) is easily removable so you can do a leak down test with compressed air

Not for leak-down testing! It has a valve at the bottom so when it's used with a compression tester, it only measures what's coming out of the cylinder. When used as an extension for a leak-down test, you get results so miraculously good (100%), you figure out what's not happening pretty quickly. The valve keeps any air from escaping the extension and going into the cylinder, and then leaking away. :-/ I'm more embarrassed about the 20 seconds it too me to realize something COULD NOT be right.

Unlike some others, this adapter *does* have a schrader-type valve in the base to maintain internal pressure in the adapter. This is essential to getting a true compression reading, otherwise the adapter increases the effective volume of the cylinder, reducing your pressure readings.
