It reacts with all known types of phosphates on contact, and hardens them into a fine precipitate, which falls out of solution. The inert phosphates then floc out, to be vacuumed or filtered out of the pool. PR-10, 000 causes cloudiness, which can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Use as needed, and do not exceed the recommended dosage unless otherwise specified

After unsuccessfully trying to lower the phosphate in my pool from over 5500 to less than 500 using a product recommended by my pool store supplier, I took a chance on this product. The first application of 8 ounces lowered the phosphate to 4500. I ended buying this PR10000 two times and by the time the last bottle was used up, the phosphate in my pool was 390. So while it took more doses than what the bottle recommended, it worked great. BTW, the other brand recommended by my pool store had zero effect on phosphate level. I don't think Amazon would allow me to mention that brand because they too sell it.

found about this product from forums and this is not one of that gimmicky diluted products but the real thing you can use for 4 treatments for 10,000 gal pool.I was a bit concerned that it took 6 days for the product to clear the pool as it was very cloudy first 3 days. But on day 6 it was crystal clear and I confirmed with Phosphate test kit that indeed it treated for phosphates and brought the level down from higher 1000s into 200 and I have never treated my pool for phosphates

Purchased PR 10000 to kill phosphates so as to help control black algae by removing phosphates (an algae food source). After, adding 12 OZ of PR 10000, the pool water will immediately start to cloud up, indicating that there are phosphates and that the product is killing them. Follow the instructions, run the pool filter pump overnight and then run the pool cleaner for about 6-hours. The pool water is nice and clean. It will take several weeks to see if any lingering black algae remains. (Note; black algae is very tough to eradicate, lots of wire brushing and elbow grease, chlorine treatment and now PR10000).

So I have always been of the philosophy that you don't worry about phosphates and just keep your chlorine level up. SLAM, this worked great for me for about 2 years. Unfortunately we got a LOT of rain and I lost my chlorine level and my pool turned a beautiful deep dark green in 1 day. I had 2500 phosphate readings. Once I got my chemicals back I decided to zero my phosphates. Now, if I am low on chlorine and get some rain I no longer get an alge bloom. I keep my phosphate levels below 100 and it is very easy to do so. Maybe 1-2 ounces every other week or so.

I have used a few other brands to remove the phosphates from my pool - and they never work. In fact, I used over 4 bottles of another brand trying to save money since this brand is on the expensive side - and I still had to end up buying this one! However, IT WORKS! I follow the dosing instructions on the back, and it lasts the entire summer. I use about half the bottle over a few doses in the beginning of the season, and then usually once or twice more before October when we stop swimming. While it may be on the expensive side, it WORKS. Well worth the money!

I have had an ongoing problem with black algae for years now. Algae eats phosphates so, if you can get rid of your phosphates, you have solved your problem. Last year, I had a phosphate level of over 2500 PPM and the only solution that I could find was a product called Phos-Free from Leslie's. It was expensive and it required that you clean your filter before application to the pool, then let the filter run for 48 straight hours, and then clean the filter AGAIN, which was a giant hassle to say the least, as I have a cartridge filter that takes 45 minutes to clean in the blazing sun. This got my phosphates down to around 800 PPM, which somewhat mitigated the problem without completely solving it. (Note: I really like Leslie's and appreciate that they have a store near me with water testing and I will continue to buy all of my other chemicals and tabs from them, which are great.)I just didn't want to deal with the Phos-Free process this year and tried Orenda out of laziness/desperation. It really works like magic. I poured 4 ounces in my 16,000 gallon pool and the water immediately clouded and stayed that way for an hour or so. I use it in conjunction with Leslie's Perfect weekly now. I have poured in 4 ounces three times so far this summer. My last phosphate level was 85 PPM. No black algae. Fantastic product!

My pool did not have an algae problem and all of my readings were in line except for high phosphates (almost 4000 after a heavy rain storm) so the pool store suggested that I use a phosphate remover. I started with a Natural Chemistry product called Pool Perfect + Phosfree but two 3 liter bottles had very little effect. I was told by the pool store that I needed to use another product with a higher level of chemicals (Lanthanum) so I tried a pro series level called Phos Remover Maximum from the same company and it also had very little effect. Same story for HTH phosphate remover from Home depot. I then tried the Orenda product and it significantly and very quickly lowered the phosphate level.I called Natural Chemistry to ask about the products that I tried and was told that Pool Perfect + Phosfree is only recommended for maintenance purposes AFTER phosphate levels are already low and is not designed to reduce high phosphate levels. The Phos Remover Max should have worked on the high phosphate levels. The support person said that the key to the strength of a phosphate remover is the amount of Lanthanum that the product has. Unfortunately, none of the product list the ingredients so there isn't a way to tell before you buy. FWIW, in my limited experience, the color of the product may be the best indication. The ones that did not work for me were a slightly opaque tan color. The Orenda product was dark brown and had more of a chemical smell. Also, the Orenda product produced an immediate cloud in the pool as it was poured in and a large amount of precipitate fell out of the water over 24-48 hours. The others produced a small wisp of cloudy water and very little precipitate.
