This 13 Gal Stainless Steel touchless trash can is designed and engineered by NINESTARS, the world's first legal patent holder. With its sleek rectangular fingerprint-resistant design, it can be used almost any place, such as the home, office, kitchen, bedroom, dorm room or a kid's room. This durable trash can uses the most advanced sensor technology which can be found in all Ninestars trash cans. Pass your hand or debris within ten inches or a 130° angle from the infrared sensor and the lid will automatically open. The lid will remain open if debris or hand remains within the range of the infrared sensor. Three seconds after your hand moves away from the lid, it will close automatically. Power lasts up to 6 months in normal daily usage. It includes a ring liner to keep trash bag from public view for a neat and clean appearance.

This is our second purchase from this company as we had a great experience with a previous purchase.Our first automatic trash can lasted 6 years and after years of being abused, it needed an upgrade. This newer model is better designed and works just as well if not better than our last one. The sensor is very responsive and doesn't go off by accident when we walk by like our last one. My guess is they relocated the sensor to a better spot. All in all, it's a great trash can that works well for us in our space. Would highly recommend

I’m so glad I got this touchless trash can! It’s incredibly convenient and hygienic—no more touching the lid to throw things away. The touchless can we had for about 6 years finally stopped working. So it was a no brainer to purchase the same brand again. So far, so good.

If you’re questioning it buy it. It works so great. I was worried about it being battery operated, but the batteries have lasted for months so far and it makes it so much easier for my kids to throw their trash away and not having to get dirty, fingerprints, and food all over the trashcan. Who would’ve thought a simple wave of a hand would give a mother so much pleasure.

I replaced a somewhat similar trash can with this one. The former was also motion sensing but had become unreliable. It would open, then it would. It would open randomly and never shut.This unit is working great as a replacement. It’s performed perfectly in opening and closing accurately. I don’t use much lighting (ok none) early in the morning and yet it still opens in the dark when I wave over the sensor.I like the square design as it holds more than the round one we had before so space is not wasted in the back. I’ve noticed it does seem to hold in odors well and the bag retaining loop is nice. Overall a great trashcan that isn’t garbage.

Works as advertised. Brand new C batteries (non rechargeable, nonlithium) purchased separately and have not had to be replaced since Day 11. Bag replacement is not as convenient as before; that being said, we've never had a trashcan with a separate ring for the bag, so something we've been adjusting to.Lid is very...active. Not "too sensitive" the sensor works exactly as expectedc. However we've placed the trash can in a high traffic area, and as a result the lid has a lotw of false opens. It is sensitive to amb ient light; sometimes the sensor is unable to detect movement due to an excess of shadows. We have adjusted to this, as it is our primary can, but removed a star as a result.Otherwise, can works great. Purchased another for my sister-in-law, she loves it. Hoping for longevity.

I don't typically write reviews, much less for products I bought over a year ago, but I wanted to give a shoutout to Nine Stars for this one. We searched long and hard to find a nice-looking stainless steel trash can for our kitchen that actually fit in our space. The automatic lid was honestly just a bonus, but boy am I happy to have it.Our countertop extends out beyond the end of the cabinet, so other trashcans we tried would clang loudly against it when they opened. Or they couldn't be put flush against the cabinet because the opening mechanism protruded out from the back.This trashcan was exactly what we needed. Well-designed, sleek, compact, plenty of capacity, and easy enough to clean (and a lower price than most of the competition). I love that the lid opening mechanism is integrated within the lid and doesn't stick out the back, so it can be flush against a wall. The inside bag holder thing is clever too; no ugly bag overhanging the outside of the can, and it never falls in by accident. Shockingly, I'm pretty sure we're on the same batteries as when we bought it last year!Only thing that could maybe be improved: The sensor seemed a little too sensitive at first, so the lid would open when we walk by. Maybe the sensor angle or sensitivity could be adjusted so it only opens when you want it to...but hardly a deal-breaker for us. I'd give it 9 stars if I could.

Muy buen bote de basura. Obviamente no es barato porque pagas por el lujo de que se abra la tapa sola. Hasta ahorita llevamos solo 2 semanas con él y no ha fallado el sensor, esperemos dure buen tiempo por el precio. En tamaño no es muy grande como hubiese querido, pero es un tamaño razonable para cocina. Hasta ahorita todo bien

First and foremost, this is a a very nice stainless steel with black trim style trash bin. Compared to most, it is a nice price for its size (standard size trash can and perfect for standard sized trash bags). The top black rim and lid also hold the trash back in place perfectly. Just a very good design!The only drawback is what others have mentioned. The motion sensor is sensitive. That’s either good or bad depending entirely on where you are placing it. If in a traffic area, it will open and close a lot. For us, it was going into a pantry. because it always detects the side pantry cabinet wall, it just stays open all the time. Not what I wanted, but not a deal breaker either. I thought it needed to detect motion, but rather, if it detects ANYTHING it stays open. If it doesn’t detect anything, it then closes. An important nuance for those like me that might put it in an enclosed area like a pantry cabinet.That said, we like it a lot. We really think we got our money’s worth with it, and it is significantly better than the one it replaced. We’d still buy it again even with the lid motion detection nuance. As a matter of fact, we might get it for another room, and perhaps as gifts for a couple of our older kids next year for Christmas. Thus, we are clearly pleased with our purchase.

This trash bin is all that and a bag of chips. The motion sensor works very well and doesn't go off every time you walk by, just when you aim at the sensor.It has a trap ring to hold the garbage bag, so no more fold downs, the top lifts and closes with good pace and the stainless steel case cleans up beautifully.It takes two D batteries which do not come with it, and it really has no manual open feature if you don't have the batteries, so buy a four pack that way you are prepared whenever the first two run out.The price of this unti seemed a little dear to me as a senior on a fixed income, but as soon as I set it up I saw the value. It is a quality item with a nice light lid that makes it easy to change the bag.I love the trap ring that holds the bag in place. I just love it.

It works for us. Good product but too bad we found out Walmart online actually sells it cheaper. Only by little bite so we just leave it.
