  • The board replacement on a refrigerator might be a complicated task. Many times, a different issue with another component may be misinterpreted as a bad control board. There are many other components in the refrigerator that needs to be checked before replacing the board. If the fridge is not troubleshoot correctly, the new board will appear as defective due to actual defective part not being replaced. Please advise with a authorized service tech to troubleshoot the issue with your fridge.
  • A constant clicking from the motherboard indicates a bad board. A bad motherboard may show burnt marks or bad soldering joints from overheating on the front or back of the board. If the refrigerator lights dim when you get ice/water, or if the ice melts and refreezes are also signs of a bad motherboard. A hum and then a click a few seconds later from the compressor indicates a compressor or relay issue but not a motherboard problem.

GE BOARD ASM MAIN CONTROL part # WR55X10942P, this is the same part as WR55X10942, (this part replaced the WR55X10942 part in the NEW catalog. The P at the end of the part # is GE's Internal part number) Board replacement can often be complex issue. If you are not 100% sure of your board being faluty, you must get professional help. Boards are often replaced just to find out the issue with the refrigerator was not the board. If the board is used, and installed, the return can not be accepted due to item being electronic.

Saved me from having to buy another refrigerator. Note that it recommends that you make sure other components like the evaporator fan is working before you replace this. I replaced my evaporator fan first because I thought it was the only problem. This part was easy to install.

After the power outage the refrig stopped working (GE Profile PSS26MSRC). The lights were on but the water dispenser did not work and the compressor did not start. This is a 15 year old refrig so I did not want to spend $400+ for the OEM board. Instead I bought this one and installed it. The refrig is working again. Installation was easy (10 minutes), just be careful as you pull the wire connectors from the old board. Mark the connectors and take a picture before removing them.

This worked great for our GSL25XGWSS GE Profile fridge. It was easy to swap out and the fridge and freezer started right up again. Huge money saver over replacing the fridge or paying someone to install for me.

Easy install. Plug and play design made repair a breeze in less than 10 minutes. This replacement solves a myriad of issues and was part of a complete thermal sensing overhaul. Our system is running like new and the price was very reasonable.

IMPORTANT UPDATE TO THE REVIEW BELOW: While this board brought the fridge to life, I realized after a day or two that the fruit and vegetables were freezing. The damper was functioning and the thermistors were ok but I replaced them anyway. This failed to solve the problem and the temperature was completely unresponsive to the warmer/colder settings for the freezer and fresh food part. I contacted the seller and his closing comment was that I should buy a GE original board. This board was advertised to replace the WR55X10996 board originally in my fridge, but obviously it does not function properly in my refrigerator.ORIGINAL REVIEW: This worked like a charm for my bottom-freezer GE refrigerator Model gdsl3kcycrls, whose control board was fried during a power outage last week. In that outage, one of the resistors that is part of the "snubber" circuit to protect the evaporator motor was burned, the one next to it that apparently protects the condenser fan was not. See the picture of my old board, attached. I tested both fans and they worked fine, but the board was fried. IMPORTANTLY, on my model, the left-most connector that goes to (what I believe is) J5 is only a 5-pin connector. It has orange, red and purple wires. The new board has a 9-pin connector. So I had to trim off the little piece of plastic on the housing of the female connector and plug it in to the last 5 pins of the 9 pin connector that is on the left side of the new board, sitting there all by itself next to the 3 power pins. It's obvious which end this 5-pin connector should be attached to, because the second pin is missing on the female and male connectors. The fridge won't work if you don't connect this connector.

This replacement computer worked well. Once installed, the refrigerator cooled and freezer function was restored. Good value, and the repair man completed the function with ease and timely. I’m happy I was able to acquire this replacement so my refrigerator is back to normal.

Fridge went out Dec 2017. Paid someone to fix it. Broke again Dec 2020. Bought this replacement and after easy installation and much relief it worked. Lasted us 3 years almost to the day. Not ready to buy a new fridge so we hope this 3rd purchase does the trick. I guarantee I'm not buying a GE brand fridge after this 3rd motherboard fails.

So my 2013 GE fridge stopped producing water. I changed the filter and that didn't fix it, I replaced the water inlet valve and right away that seemed to have fixed the problem. Worked fine for the rest of the night. Next morning water didn't work again and also the freezer and fridge temp were warming. - Decided to call a repair guy. $90 to show up took it apart with me testing things and put back together and as we plugged back in I noticed the freezer evaporator fan came back on which was new, immediately tested the water dispenser and it worked also. Everything is working! (due to power reset somehow?) He said he thinks it's the main board and it will stop working again but for him to order the part it's 3 weeks out on back order. - I order this part on Amazon hoping it fixes everything, the morning after ordering it stops dispensing water again and the evaporator fan isn't running. Anxious for the parts arrival. Got it today and swapped it out. Still have both problems, water doesn't run and the evaporator fan isn't running when should be. Don't know what to do but apparently the board didn't fix it? Any help appreciated.
