Good variety of colors. Packaged nicely. Half sticks are very small. Some arrived a little dirty, but it’s to be expected with pastels which can be a bit dusty. Some of the colors are softer and more “buttery” than others.

I used Mont Marte (MM) soft pastels to test on pictures beside Mungyo (M). I used my regular sketchpad paper/ no grit.Pros:-Mungyo is true to color; the shades and color applications are quite literally what they look like. Reds don't turn pink after blending.-Variety of colors are nice! And, the extra longer black is VERY pigmented-Price point is greatCons:-The size... it's a lot harder to work with. Better for detail not full picture.-It crumbles! Even for a pastel, it crumbles a lot.-Some shades after blending, the color can get lost (recommend using finger to blend).--package arrival condition: two of my colors were broken and the inside was quite dusty. However, it is soft pastels and I easily wiped off excess dust. All in all, I would still recommend for the price and unique shades.

I purchased these for a workshop I was teaching and am very happy with the quality. I normally use Mungyo Gallery handmade soft pastels, which are professional grade. These offer a very good, cost-effective, alternative to introduce someone to pastels. Others at the same price point are low quality, excessively dusty, and do not provide a positive experience to those wanting to try out this medium. Will definitely purchase again for my next workshop.

Using cotton balls I use them to gently finish the edges of my hand-coloured pictures. I can blend the Color out for a lite shade or not spreding for stronger tones. A very nice range of coloristen. Happy with my purchase.

Great colors, smooth to use. I like these better than my more expensive Faber Castel. Blend very well.

These colors are beautiful, they are a medium soft, with a great edge. It's a half pastel so nice size and the price is unbeatable!

I have purchased many different brands of chalk pastels over the past few years for my polymer clay creations and usually steered away from inexpensive ones, but another artist used these and her work is gorgeous so I figured I would give them a try. While the pieces are very small, the color assortment is very nice. None were broken, but one darker color was all over the other pieces, so I have been wiping them off as I use a color for the first time. The only thing that confused me is that the box says Mungyo but the brand on Amazon is YoCosii.

I'm a professional artist and during the lockdown(s) I've decided to get back into pastels in a serious way. I've spent a fortune on high end artist's quality soft pastels, many of which are excellent, but for sheer value for money and versatility these take a lot of beating! They're just the right size to fit your hand - I tend to break bigger sticks anyway - they're firm enough to do detailed work and yet soft enough to go on in layers. There's a good selection of colours in the box, although nothing really subtle. I find these have become a kind of workhorse foe me - even in the middle of doing a painting using artist's quality soft pastels, surprisingly I find myself turning to these again and again. Now that I've used these for a while, I wouldn't be without them.

The pros:This set has a nice wide range of colors. This is pretty important when it comes to soft pastels because unlike other mediums, you can't mix colors. I found them to be nicely pigmented and they produce vibrant colors. They also blend really well. The greatest thing to note is that they have the ability to make nice skin tones. I have enjoyed using them over both alcohol markers and watercolors. Soft pastels can really help you blend and smooth out base layers of colors especially if you have streaking (alcohol markers) or pooling effects (watercolors). The cons:While none of my pastels were broken, about half came jumbled and out of place in the box upon arrival. The pastels had discolored each other slightly. They really do not seem to stay in place very well in the box.Overall:The biggest thing to note is the size difference to that of a traditional pastel stick. These are MINI sticks and I have included photos to show how one mini stick looks beside a normal sized pastel stick. The size difference comes down to personal preference. Unless you are doing lots of large artwork they should still last a long time. This set is a good value for the price overall. I hope this review helps.
