Update:I realized I needed to have the camera setting on timer and remote. This way yes I can use the remote from quite a distance away and have time to get my arm down in time to get a great photo. What an excellent find!I used this with my Nikon D50 and it was a perfect fit. Works well, right away. Only reason for 4 stars, really has nothing to do with the product, but the use. The sensor for the remote is right in the front of the camera, so you have to point the remote at it. So if you were taking a selfie image using the remote and the camera on a tripod, your photo will show you pointing your hand at the remote. Otherwise so cool!

At first, I didn't realize I had to adjust some camera settings, so I assumed this didn't work. Silly me. Once I figured that out, I have been pleased with this remote.
