Attachment for motherboard to add 4 more SATA hard drives is why is got these, will work for disk drive and any other sata input hardware, good material and quality wirework making this basically plug and play if you are use to working on your own Computer via cpu install, case wires, fans hard drive hook up gpu hook up and ram to power supply unit. These add on hook up wires are great length, stays connected, good cost, shipped fast and secure would buy again

Needed a dongle to connect my SAS drive and this does the job! Wish there was an option for less SAS cables but thisll do

So the cable looks super well made, it feels snug and I really like how it doesn't add a bunch of bulk by having a power breakout cable. I am removing 2 stars because it doesn't work with my ATTO H644. I know the drive is good and I know the card is good, so I assumed it was the cable. I had the cable replaced and swapped out and the new one still doesn't work with my ATTO card.

Exactly what I needed for my LSI card. Was able to use cheaper drives.Note this is for SAS drives and not backwards compatible with SATA.Make sure your controller and drives are compatible.

This SAS cable works fine with cards that have the SFF-8087 port, typically server-grade SAS/SATA host bus adapters. Not compatible with most low-end consumer stuff.I used this with an old IBM RAID card converted to IT-mode to make a little ZFS array with some SAS drives, everything works fine. The SFF-8087 connector fits nicely on the host adapter, and the drive connectors are full-size SAS connectors with a piggyback SATA power connector for supplying power to the drive.

The "100cm version" (1M/3.3ft) works extremely well to reach the "channel" of space between the backplane and fan assembly of a 2U server for adding more SAS HDDs and SATA SSDs. with a 2nd Storage Controller. These also came in handy for transferring data from an 8-disk array by temporarily migrating the storage controller with drives (numbered in the correct order/positions) to a Windows machine after a hardware failure. If I get ambitious, I might benchmark bypassing the backplane completely and using 2 of these directly connected to the storage controller since the backplane might be a bottleneck, at its age.Speeds are good. The thin SATA cables are not too stiff or too floppy, the braid is nice, too.The SAS-to-SATA power and SATA-to-SATA both works beautifully while using a 1-to-5 SATA Power Splitter on each one.The "Grip" of the SATA data "link" and the SAS/SATA Power on the actual disks is better than the "grip" of the 1-to-5 SATA Power splitter, so be sure to check your connections are "all the way on" for SATA Power Splitter ports. These are "thin enough" to slip through the crowded "cable channels" around fan assemblies, or do a small "tape oval" to keep a fan assembly from crushing/snagging/pinching the thin blue leads.I definitely saved this one to a list. I would buy these again. GET THE LONG ONES, so you can use them for more than one project/circumstance.

The cables are delicate at the disk connection side so care must be taken. The SAS connector and release clip engage and disengage as they should. It should be noted that if the disks don’t spin up, the 3rd pin power situation applies here and using an older LP4 to SATA power connector did the trick. Depending on the SATA power connector it may or may not spin the disk up at all. Certain disks don’t have the power conservation issues so older disks are more compatible than newer ones. Other than that this wiring harness works well with all disks showing up at a 6Gbps connection.

Used this to connect 2 SATA drives to SAS connectors on my DELL mobo. Had to figure out a power solution to supply power to these adapters, but was able to figure that out. The cable did the job and I'm able to run dual SATA drives in a RAID config.
