Bought this to be able to connect our 7way trailer to our friends 4 way on their van. We did not use the bracket as we were able to zip tie it to the trailer as it was not going to be a permanent fix on their van. The product worked great. never came loose. Drove 1000 miles with no issues. It does not work the power brakes only the lights. we did not need the brakes as the trailer was light. If you are hauling a heavily loaded trailer I would recommend changing the car to a 7 way.

Installed on my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder OEM trailer hitch. Luckily, Nissan provided pre-drilled holes for installation of the mounting bracket (just use a 8mm diameter (M8) x1.25 thread x 16mm length flange bolt). You have to drill a hole in the mounting bracket for the 8mm bolt using a 3/8 drill bit and the 7 pin hookup is N easy mount and works great.

If you just need the basics but in a 7-way plug style, this is perfect. If you're using a plug and play adapter from your vehicle's wiring that gives you a flat-four, this plugs right in to give you the basics for any other wiring you need to add such as a brake controller, constant power, and reverse lights.

For anyone considering this adapter - just know that it only comes with four wires connected from the four pin to the 7 pin as noted by others. This might explain why the price was shown as discounted, but not why it was still represented in the description and photos as having eight wires (one 'extra'?) At any rate, it has all the connections available at the 7-pin. Since it was cheaper and I can wire it for brakes, power and reverse lights relatively easily, I still gave it 5 stars as it otherwise seems to be a good quality connector. If you are doing it yourself, it's not that much more difficult to open the connector, and wire to it as needed for your application. Also, fewer connectors in-line means fewer places that can corrode.

I didn't pay attention to the description indicating that this did NOT support electric brakes. (It also doesn't handle charging circuit or , backup Lights). It does what it says though- lets you hook up a 7-way trailer connector to your 4-wire vehicle providing basic lights. It comes with a reasonably strong mount and the required hardware to mount it as well. The spring loaded dust cover is just that- a dust cover. There's no rubber seal so it's not water proof without user mods. Probably best kept in your glove compartment and used only when needed rather than permanently mounted. The included instruction sheet say "Cannot be connected to allow for electric brakes and accessories..". It actually can if like me, you misread the description and you don't mind adding the extra 3 wires yourself. Just loosen a few set screws, slide it apart and inside is a standard full-pin connector with screw terminals made for spade connectors. If I were doing this again I'd have bought a pre-wired one for a buck or two more and saved the extra work.
