This microscope will show you all the tiny horribles you have ever wished to see. Place them underneath the lens and behold! The world is teeming with things that have faces and want to devour you in your sleep. Highly recommend.

This isn't intended to be a scientist grade microscope. Rather it is either an introduction to microscopes for kids, or it's a tool to examine circuitry or other fine detail work.We ordered two, both of which worked perfectly straight out-of-the-box. Both the detachable camera/display and base units are independently rechargeable; and come with a decent amount of charge so you can switch on and verify they are working. Also included are slides which includes deceased bugs etc., for familiarization and examination.The optical sensor (camera) is not leading-edge technology. If compared to a Starvis II sensor (used in dashcams) you'll realize the contrast range and resolution are quite limited. However, you can control the brightness of the LED lighting (buttons behind the display) so in many cases you can easily overcome the limited contrast range. Color rendition is excellent, and the camera is well matched to the provided LCD display. There's clearly a trade-off between cost and sensor quality but considering the intended audience, I don't see a problem. If the kids show interest, we can always go up-market at a future date.I had no difficulty using this microscope to examine leaves, bugs, electronic components and boards, both indoors and out. The ability to detach the camera/display from the base made this a very useful field tool. I also liked the ability to change the color of the LED's in the base unit. This is a useful feature when examining slides as different colors can sometimes highlight the unique features of the sample under examination. Again, there is a compromise between cost and capability. At max intensity, the light isn't as bright as I would like, but that's a minor quibble.I couldn't verify the magnification; however I did note that optical quality degrades quickly at the higher magnifications. Again, to be expected at this price point. Even so, I was able to quickly identify a dry joint on a circuit board and observes mites crawling across a leaf, so again, fit for the purposes I previously noted.Overall impressions: solid construction and performance - I was pleasantly surprised. This is, in my opinion, a well-balanced combination of price and performance. We are targeting our 6 and 8 year old kids, so they begin to gain an appreciation for a world of tiny things. If their interest is fired, we will go up-market as (age) appropriate. If not, then I have a handy tool for my electronic and modeling workshop!

The item was boxed and padded in such a way that the risk of shipping damage is minimal.Material Quality:The device is mostly plastic. The slides are glass.Assembly/Build Quality:The device seems solid. It has some weight to it which is good because that makes it feel less cheap. Everything fits together well.Marketing Material:The images posted with this listing (at the time of this review) represent the product well. There is no misrepresenting here and everything is as it looks in the picture. It does come with an instruction manual but it is a bit vague and it also makes reference to both kits they offer so it can be a bit confusing.Functionality:This device functions as you would expect. The controls function well enough, the zoom knob rotates smoothly and with enough friction that you don’t overshoot where you want to be. The zoom is both optical and digital and it relies heavily on the digital zoom. It does magnify a lot but as it is mostly digital, as you get zoomed in to the max level the image starts to lose quality. The included slides are all pre fitted with samples to look at which is nice if you are using it as an educational tool or if you are genuinely interested in seeing these things. Only complaint I have is that it does not come with any blank slides so you can’t look at anything of your own without buying new slides. Apparently there is another version of this kit that does come with more items as well as blank slides but not this one. The system has the ability to take screen shots of whatever you are looking at and there is some internal memory. You can also connect by USB and access and download images. The base where the slides go is lighted and it also has some graduations for measuring items in view. The screen is also a decent size for viewing. It has built in batteries for both the viewing unit and the base stand.Price:This item is listed (at the time of this review) for $109.99. Compared to other similar items this price is not bad. I am just not sure I agree with the price.Likes:I like the zoom level. Even though it is mostly digital, it still zooms in quite a lot.Dislikes:I don’t like the fact that it does not come with even one blank slide to use for viewing things you want to.Overall:I would recommend this if you want something for your children to use and learn with as it does come with some nice slides of things to look at. The price is also lower than other similar items so that’s a plus. It has some nice features and is fairly easy to work. All it is missing are some blank slides.

Ein nicht nur für Kinder besonders Mikroskop. Leicht zu bedienen und durch seinen Einsatz in der freien Natur äußerst interessant und lehrreich. Über die mitgelieferte Speisekarte können Fotos die mit diesem Mikroskop gemacht werden können, auf einem separaten Gerät angesehen werden. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen ist die Integrirung ins WLAN Netz. Habe es leider nicht hinbekommen. Sollte jemand einen Tipp haben, bitte unbedingt weitergeben. Alles im allen ein sehr gutes Gerät zum guten Preis.

The touch buttons to take photographs and start/stop video are not responsive, and the interface seems to have been designed by someone tasked with making the most awkward interface to control a device with ever. It's horrible and unwieldy to use, but the Android app is far far worse.To connect the app you need to go into the settings on the microscope and set wifi to open - you ave to do this every single time you use the microscope! Once wifi is set to open you open the app on your phone and connect to the microscope's own wifi hotspot. The microscope doesn't join your own network and obviously doesn't have internet access of it's own so your phone will quickly notice there's no internet access and switch to another wifi network with autoconnect enabled until you turn off automatically connect for your regular wifi network which means your phone then won't automatically connect to your home wifi later - well not until you've gone back into the settings on your phone to turn it on again,following which it's not going to stay connected to the microscope Gettingv a headache trying to follow this? 'm not surprised.so having stopped your phone logging onto any wifi network with internet access,, gone into settings on the microscope and finally connected your phone to the microscope the first thing you see is - well the first thing you see is an error on your phone complaining about no internet access. But you are connected to the microscope. Touching the play symbol in the top right of the app takes you to a black screen whilst the app completely fails to establish a connection to the microscope. When you eventually get bored with that and go back the app shows two folders in the microscope, System Album and Personal Album. Each of those contains a video and photographs folder. I took some test photographs and video with the microscope and found myself completely unable to see any of either in the app. whichever folder I looked in.Unsurprisingly this getting returned.
