Happy with this dictionary. Sent previous “new addition” dictionary back as it has adapted to the culture and changed definitions of gender as seen below . Go with this one , safe and not confusing for your young readers :)

対象がNativeの８～11歳だからと言って侮るべからず。この辞書に載っている単語数が36000語で、これはNativeの大人が知っている単語数の平均より多い。辞書というものは調べた単語が載っていないとだめなのだから、小学生が使う辞書であれば、中学高校生が使う単語レベルまで載せておく必要があるが、そのくらいの年齢と言ったら、日常生活レベルの単語はほぼゴールに到達していると言っていい。すなわち、このElementary Dictionaryは、日常生活レベルの語彙の現実的な到達目標ということになる。しかも向こうの小学生向けなので、単語の意味をこれ以上ないくらいに平易な英語で書いてあり、わかりやすい。例文も恐ろしく簡潔。最高の英単語集。

The colors, the pictures , the ease of access for a growing mind. This Dictionary is the best for excited learners, my kids didn't want to set it down. The day it arrived they spent three hours reading , giggling, and learning together. I have three children and the amount of joy to show each other something they found inside that they liked and learn together . Just melts my heart , sometimes not so much with all other things 😂😂 Give the Gift of Knowledge to those whom matter most with this dictionary

I loved the notes on etymology, synonyms and headscratchers. It was a present for my nephew but I'm to get another one for myself.

Perfect dictionary for children. Wonderful addition to a homeschool classroom, or for children in traditional school. Too much time is spent googling words, this gives a hands on approach to learning which is beneficial for an early learner. We are very pleased with this dictionary, as well as the ease of use, vivid cover, and illustrations throughout.

It's so easy to use an electronic dictionary, but I love the old fashion paper dictionary. This dictionary caught my attention because of the colors, visuals, box texts, and text information. And so I bought it for my 8 year old daughter. I love how she flips through the book and stops at certain pictures and boxes to read the content before finding her words. It's additional education without the extra work on my end. And she understands most of the definitions.When I received the dictionary, there was a large ,thick crease down the front cover as if someone took a peek into the book bending the hard cover without bending the hinge/joint. And so, I gave this review a 4 stars instead of 5.

As a Canadian Classroom Literacy Support Teacher and teacher of English Language Learners, I am very impressed with this dictionary! I just received it and immediately placed an order for a second one. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of choice in dictionaries these days that succeed in bridging the gap between basic (and outdated!) picture dictionaries featuring broad categories of words, and adult dictionaries. I am here to tell you that this particular dictionary fits the bill!I am currently teaching a science unit on forces to Grade 5/6 students who are English Language Learners AND who have significant gaps in their schooling history. So I was particularly looking for a dictionary that included science terms as I am going to make them find a “word of the day” on a page that I opened ahead of time. Tomorrow’s word will be “force” and they will hit my answer buzzer when they’ve found that word on the page. Then we will review the definition.Besides comprehensively covering seemingly every topic and subject matter under the sun, this dictionary does so in clear fonts that are large enough and easy to read. There is a good balance of “white space” for contrast. In addition, there are colour pictures to illustrate some words but there are not so many that the pages appear “busy.”I haven’t had a chance yet to admire all the extra features, but one that I really like, and that I know students will find helpful is the alphabet printed vertically at the edge of each page, with the beginning letter highlighted for the words in that particular section.

My son is in the 3rd grade and has to write weekly definitions to his spelling words as a homework assignment. I tried several dictionaries out and couldn't seem to find the right one for him. The 1st one had words that were way too small. The 2nd one was a large print dictionary, but I found that it didn't give descriptive definitions and it didn't have all of his spelling words inside. I was starting to get discouraged.....and then I purchased this dictionary. IT IS WONDERFUL!!! I go on and on about how thrilled I am with it every time my son and I use it. The writing is just the right size and there are many colorful and descriptive pictures to help further explain some words. I have found every single word in it. It is thick. The first time that I purchased this dictionary it appeared to be a used product. It had a few scratches on it and a few marks on some pages. I contacted customer service, and I received a replacement the very next day. Now THAT is some speedy service! The replacement was in perfect condition. I just chalked it up to knowing that these things happen from time to time. The issue was resolved in such a timely manner that it didn't even matter anymore. PLUS...I was so thrilled with how wonderful this product was that I couldn't be anything but thrilled about it. I have no complaints whatsoever and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with an elementary aged child.

Truth be told, I actually ordered this dictionary for my grandson due to a one star review from someone who disliked it because there was no reference to a homosexual lifestyle or the alphabet soup lifestyle. Now before you go and flame me with the typical progressive name calling that we have all come to expect, I am a small business owner and I have 2 homosexuals, one female and one male, that work for me. They are respected because they are good people. SO let's take this one step further. The one star reviewer makes no mention that there is also no entry in this dictionary for "heterosexual" either. A typical move of the progressive indoctrination crowd. Here is a wonderful dictionary that lets children be children. As children age, they can discover and explore in their own appropriate time the vagaries of our age.
