How to use compasses:
Open the compasses to the radius desired for your circle.
Place the compass point on a piece of paper where you would like the center point of the circle to be.
Place the point of the pencil/lead on the paper.

Draw without lifting the point of the compass off the paper.

I lilke the case and everything fits in it beautifuly. I have no idea how to use the tools in the box. Therefore, I can only comment on the package. I bought it for my Granddaughter but she didn't want it. So it will be a fund raising gift soon.

A good geometry set that goes beyond the basics. The compasses draw smoothly, don't slip/expand as it's turned, and the point stays in place w/o making a big hole. My desk mat was safe under a single sheet of paper. The silver parts are actually metal. The one w/ the pencil holder accomadates a Frixion Clicker so I can use it w/ my Rocketbook. All the pieces fit nicely into the insert and don't rattle around. The sturdy case is a bit bigger than a TI-84 and about 1-inch thick.
