Despite keeping our tanks as clean as possible I often found on hot days in storage there would be somewhat of a sewer smell. I added one of these to my black tank vent and it almost completely got rid of the smell, so I added a second one to our gray tank that and it got rid of any smells altogether. I can't believe how simple it is and how well it worked. If I had anything to complain about, I would say it seems a little bit expensive for a small piece of plastic and I am unsure how it's going to hold up in the long term as it does also seem a little flimsy.

The product is fine we were able to install it properly. However your description is not accurate, there is reference to electrical plug and this unit does not have anything electrical about it. Please correct your description. Thanks.

I’ve had my 20+ year old Rv for over a year now. She’s been receiving steady upgrades since then. This cap has been on my black tank vent for less than 24 hours and I wish I had done it WAY SOONER! I had a phantom smell that lingered in the bathroom and since having this on I smell NOTHING. It gradually started to go away since having it installed and as of this morning I cannot stress that the smell is absolutely gone. I had to go searching for it to find any trace and can hardly smell anything other than typical girl bathroom :) if you have a lingering black tank smell I would HIGHLY recommend trying this product. Also for the pricing it can’t be beat

We were having a smelly problem on hot days. I was blaming the sewer system, which IS a problem. But we moved to a no sewer parking lot and still have smells inside. So i bought this thinking I’d attempt it. We have odd shaped vents but it was NO problem to use adhesive to attach to the roof vent. And it did help. A lot. I’m amazed. The smells are blown away. Maybe it won’t be as sturdy as the 8 year old previous cap but I’ll gladly replace occasionally if it comes off. You do have to provide your own adhesive, I suggest a small tube of Liquid Nails or something similar. Maybe some self leveling Dicor if your vents are normal. Our roof is RV FlexArmor which is sprayed on and it come up the sides of the vents and makes them not level.

As others have stated this plastic is on the thinner side.4 stars for the value: constant fluctuating price ($25-35) and the installation video shows the butyl is included-this will need to be purchased separately. It seems to have helped with black tank smells lingering around the RV

We had an issue while on an extended camping trip when the vent pipe on the black tank became obstructed. The smell was horrible. After removing the old vent cap and pouring water down the stack to clear the blockage, we purchased this cap to replace the old one. It took just a few minutes to install and the breeze around the campground was enough to clear the offending odors without having to tow the trailer anywhere. No issues or concerns since install after an additional 60 days camping in the trailer.

We had a strong holding tank odor in our bathroom, especially immediately after towing. This device totally eliminated it. I think that all manufacturers should include it as a standard feature. Until then, I recommend that everybody install one. The installation might sound complicated, but it’s not. Any kludge that you need to do to secure it to the top of your vent tube does the job just fine.

My installation was super easy, pop off my existing cap, and this slipped right onto the pipe. Required some adhesive, which does not come with unit, nor does roof sealant if you had a different mounting. This product instantly removed foul black tank odors from inside trailer

I am sure that this product will be excellent and work perfectly after it is installed . My 'less than 5-star' rating and comments are all related to the installation and instructions. I have 3 vents and have occasionally experienced sewer gas smell in my 5th wheel, so I resolved to do something about it. I watched the numerous YouTube videos, took notes, and gathered the tools and materials for the install. Climbing on the roof, hauling everything up there, and then chopping off the old vent is a big deal for me.I read the extremely concise and compact instructions about 10 times before I started. Installation is nothing like the YouTube videos. The most current model sold on Amazon and Lippert.com allows the modification of the old vent cap with the 360 vent, eliminating about half the work. However, the instructions are so brief and the parts are so 'versatile' that it takes a while to figure out which parts to use and how to fit them together. The biggest component is the distinctive outer cap and the other parts are adapters and a funnel. Fortunately I was familiar with my vent caps because I checked them last year for blockage, so I was able to determine that 'figure 3' matched my old vent caps giving me a head start on the ground to figuring out the installation. On the roof I removed the old cap and then read the instructions another 10 times before I could completely understand what I was supposed to do. I wanted the vent to work right and didn't want to pass the 'point of no return' without being sure it could be installed correctly. The new vent is GLUED in place along with the usual lap sealant covering the base. Some of the parts that seem essential are actually OPTIONAL. Other pieces are obviously adapters for different sized vent pipes. After the third vent I was sure I was installing the cap correctly. The biggest lesson I learned was that trimming the vent pipe is a big step in the old videos and this is no longer necessary. The install is easier if you have about 1.5 inches of pipe protruding from the old vent cap. Trimming the old pipe to less than 1 inch makes the install a little harder. If you have more than 2 inches you end up with a very ugly looking vent with a black pipe exposed between your white roof and lovely white 360 vent. After I prepared the old vent by cutting the legs, I put components together to check the fit and then reread the instructions (again) to clarify where the glue went and where the lap sealant went. The instructions should be much more extensive with better pictures and step-by-step instructions. There are multiple contingencies for pipe diameters and heights that are hard to decipher. It is hard to determine which components are needed, so a parts list and an explanation of what the parts are for would have been helpful.I hope the glue holds up. I really would have preferred to have a few screws in the process to hold the components in place. Time will tell. If one of these comes off I will have to repeat the process, but I will improvise by adding a few screws through the side to hold it more securely. We are driving from New England to Arizona in December and I will be sure to check the vents on arrival and will update this review then. Maybe I'll also upgrade the review if everything holds up.
