I used 2 of these dampers on a heavy oak, toy box lid. They were easy to install and work great. Now, I don't have to worry about the toy box lid slamming down on my grandkids fingers!

The hinge comes with a nice card to aid with installation; however, the product page has a great video that makes it even easier. The hinge seems to work great so far! As long as it holds up over time, I think this is a great product.

The mechanism itself is quality but the installation instructions are completely useless.

The installation takes a bit of time to figure out at first, but once you get the hang of it, adding more is easy, and they really help prevent little hands from getting pinched when the cover closes. I used these hinges on cabinet doors for a built-in kitchen unit that needed to open upward and stay open. Since the doors are glass, the soft-close feature was really important, and these worked perfectly. It did take a little trial and error to get the installation right and adjust the soft-close tension, but once it was set, everything worked great. The arm moves smoothly, letting the lid open all the way to 105 degrees and stay in place. My daughter loves that she can get to all her toys without the lid slamming down. The Lid Stay is made from strong metal, so it handles heavy lids without any issues, and the powder-coated finish helps prevent rust and chips over time. I ended up making a small jig out of 1/4" plywood to help figure out where to mount the bracket since the instructions weren't very clear on that part.

I connected the Lid Stay to her new play box after I had finished putting it together by following the straightforward installation instructions. The hardware that is supplied in the package is used to simply screw it into the rear edge of the lid and the opening of the box. The support arm may be retracted and extended in a fluid manner, which enables the lid to become completely open to 105 degrees while remaining in place. The fact that she can get to all of her toys without the lid falling down abruptly is something that my daughter really enjoys. The strong metal design of the Lid Stay is able to handle the weight of even the most substantial and hefty lids. Its powder-coated surface is also resistant to chipping and rusting over time, like other finishes. The functionality of the gentle shut is considered to be one of my favorite aspects. Whenever my daughter is finished playing, she just presses the lid shut in a gentle manner, and the Lid Stay progressively retracts until the lid shuts in a manner that is both quiet and comfortable. The lids will no longer slam loudly! Additionally, the regulated and smooth closure is significantly safer for the fingers of young children.

I'm a cabinet builder and was using different kinds of struts and lids supports on toy boxes window seats etc. for about the same price, this one is the easiest to install, I installed only one on a 15" x 48" Birch plywood lid and it shuts really slow, my only complaint is I wish I could adjust the closing speed but then I will complain that the price is too high if they make one, so I'm satified with it the way it is , my advice is if you watch the instructional video they screw the plate on top of the template with all the screws all the way in and then they remove them , I drilled a small pilot hole instead on all the holes, since the more times you put a screw to wood and remove them, eventually they will fall off.Hopefully these will last, I will check back if I get a call back from my customers that they broke and not working .

As other people have said, the instructions make no sense whatsoever. Quicker to just use common sense and move it around different positions until it works. I installed one as the weight of the lid dictated; it holds open but still slams shut so will install the second and hope that resolves it.

I bought a pair these for the lid of a toy box. They were easy to install and were perfect for the job. Highly recommended.
