I wish I had bought this a long time ago! We have gone through so many plastic bags that only last a few times before they break. This bag is so sturdy that we can really crush the ice (with the handy mallet included) and not worry about the bag breaking.

I had no idea what a Lewis bag was until I picked one up, and now it’s an essential part of my setup. The included mallet makes crushing ice super easy—whether you’re breaking it down for cocktails or just separating pieces before dispensing. I use it alongside my countertop ice maker, and it’s easily the most efficient way to store ice if you don’t have a refrigerator with an ice maker. I bought a second bag since the size is good for some uses, but I needed extra storage for larger batches of ice. Definitely is better than using traditional ice trays.The mallet and bag are both very well-made and durable. The mallet is sturdy, and the bag has no defects. I was worried about it shedding fibers into the ice, but it’s held up perfectly with no issues. Highly recommend!

I didn’t have a good way to make crushed ice for cocktails. So based on a recommendation (from a bartender on YouTube) I purchased this bag & now have a good way to produce crushed ice as needed. Works well for my purpose. Yes, I would recommend in lieu of buying a much more expensive unit to make the little bit that I use.

I've been using this for several weeks now making drinks every couple days. I don't know if other reviewers got a faulty bag, but mine seems to be holding up really well. It's not large. So, you'll get one to two drinks, depending on what you're making, out of each bag. But, overall it's a great bag. The mallet is sturdy and gets the job done breaking up the ice. It's super easy to clean and I tend to just air dry it after each use.

This item does exactly what it was intended for........smashing ice-cubes into crushed ice...... simple but effective. The cotton bag was substantial and can be placed back into the freezer for the next round of drinks.. and it came with a bonus free liquor spout! This is going to great for any social gathering..... guests could smush their own ice to boot.. (corny I know)

What a great device! It reminds me of Whac-A-Mole, but with different results. Here's the problem and how the Lewis Bag addressed it:I bought a countertop ice maker. It CRANKS out the ice! Can't be more pleased. Of course, all the ice it produces then gets put in the freezer, dumped into the ice hopper in the door. Problem: It immediately turns into an iceberg! One solid lump of ice!So, into the Lewis Bag it goes and WHACK! The wooden mallet instantly turns the iceberg into shattered ice bits, perfect for whatever beverage you're trying to chill. Love it! Sorry, ladies, I'm a man—I love whacking that bag! Works perfectly. Oh, and it's very well-made! (This Whac-A-Mole business would be pretty hard on it if it wasn't well-made. Just saying.)

I love my louis bag and mallet... love them... the ease with which I can prepare crushed ice for cocktail making is perfect... and bashing it out with a mallet is substantially more satisfying than those 80s ice crushers... and serving out of the hemp bag looks very cool... The scoop is an extra bonus and is well made and gets the job done (how much can really be said about an ice scoop).Everything is high quality and fights together tightly, and I appreciate the quality rope used for the draw string.One lesson learned... the bag itself has a limited amount of reuses in it... It's not a low limit, doing 2-3 cocktails a night the bag can hold up a solid few months... but it's a hemp bag and it's only mission in life is taking a beating... So it's best to buy a few spare bags for when your first one dies.
