The leather drum sander and edge burnisher from Tandy and Weaver was too much for my budget so I found this very reasonably priced sander burnisher and decided to try it. It’s awesome. I would recommend a rubber belt sander cleaning bar (feels like a giant rubber eraser) to clean the sand cylinders and make them last longer. Very easy to use and comes with everything you need. I’m going to mount it on some stacked pieces of plywood and to my workbench so it can move pieces under the sander allowing me more visibility when sanding edges. All in all, a great product.

In my opinion, edge finishing on leather projects is one the most tedious aspects of leather working when all you have are hand tools. Prior to getting this machine I used a belt grinder to finish the edges and various burnishing wheels mounted to my drill press to burnish the sanded edges. These methods worked, and removed some of the drudgery of edge finishing, but weren't ideal.This little gem is makes sanding and burnishing the edges enjoyable. The different widths on the burnishing spindle accommodate allow for the perfect burnished edge regardless of the thickness of the project. The sanding drum allows for much more precise control over sanding the edges by varying the grit and speed of the drum. The selection of sanding drum grits work well for removing lots of material to true up layers of leather or very little material for that finishing touch. The motor is super quiet and the variable speed is easy to adjust. Overall, I wish I had added one of these to my bench years ago.

This sander is great for the workbench. Easy to use and quiet. It’s got bolt holes for securing it to the work surface, which I recommend. Multiple speeds allow for different tasks.

It is true that it is very quiet, and there is no vibration at all. The adjustable speed knob starts out slow, and then rises to 8500. Even then it is very quiet. The standard sanding drum means that you can purchase replacement sleeves that are widely available. This burnishing machine wreaks of quality. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to add this to my tool bench, and highly recommend this product.

Has helped me a lot with my leather work!! Amazing little machine I wish both sides could be turned on independently but is okay I always use both anyways but I love it!
