There are a few misleading things about this..... yarn is not wool but probably acrylic (written in Chinese so I have no idea as to weight, type, etc), and the needles are bamboo not metal. As far as the kit, it's a nice starter kit with fairly decent instructions. I had taken an intro to knitting class several years back and the instructor indicated it's easier to begin with a thicker yarn as it's easier to see what you're doing and this yarn is somewhat on the thin side. The needles aren't the smoothest so I switched to metal as I found the yarn started to snag on the needles. I also found the yarn fibers started creating little balls of fuzz when tensioning with my fingers. The instructions are somewhat clear but I did have to refer to YouTube multiple times for clarity. I do wish they were printed a bit larger making them easier to read. This is a beginner set but don't expect the instructions to teach you about fixing any mistakes (ie dropped stitches) because it doesn't (I lost track of how many times I pulled this apart because I couldn't figure out how to fix). The kit also comes with a few markers but no explanation of what to do with them, along with metal and plastic needles altho the plastic one has a lot of burrs on it that I won't use. The little scissors are handy. I didn't complete any of the projects but am now using the yarn to practice the included stitches along with others I've found so I can get better/thicker yarn to work with.

I ordered this kit for my daughter who is at college. Although she has crocheted for several years, she has never wanted to learn to knit before now. Since she lives 2 hours away, I thought a kit like this which would contain everything she would need to get started with simple projects would be a good idea. It didn't take her long to get the hang of it, and I've added a photo of her progress after a couple hours. She said the bamboo needles were nice, a comfortable size and appropriate for the included yarn. The yarn is a fun, bright blue color. Although it is labeled as wool, it is definitely synthetic yarn, probably acrylic. That is disappointing, and the reason I have deducted a star. She also said the nippers were not super sharp, and that using them often required a couple snips to cut through the yarn. The included instructions are adequate, although only address English style knitting. As an English knitter myself, I suggested to my daughter that she watch online tutorials and learn to knit Continental style as it is much faster and I think a little more intuitive for someone who learned to crochet first. After a week of practice, she figured out simple color work and also started working on a scarf with cables. Now I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for some interchangeable circular needles because she seems to be enjoying her new craft obsession.

Easy directions to follow, however working with wooden needles very difficult o move stitches.

I get excited when I see kits like this, with a good amount of yarn and what seems like decent instructions and supplies for a beginner knitter. As someone with 20 years of experience knitting, I love seeing new people pick up the craft. However, the product description is incredibly misleading. This is not wool yarn, but a bulky weight acrylic (plastic) yarn. When I took a lighter to it, instead of a slow flame that went out on its own, this yarn caught fire immediately and melted rather spectacularly. Now, as far as the rest of the kit goes, the tools are decent beginner level tools. The wooden needles in particular are great for a beginner knitter - they have the strength of wood, but don't have a smooth finish so the stitches stay on the needles without slipping around. Great for beginners, not so great for speed knitters. The rest of the tools are cheap, but work well for their purpose. The instructions are alright, though they could benefit from a link to videos for all the stitches and other methods, not just the brioche stitch. I only attempted the brioche scarf and the instructions for it were rather confusing - I had to restart it and I'm nowhere near a beginner.Overall, it's a decent kit with a good amount of yarn, but be aware that the yarn is not wool. As well, I highly suggest any beginners plan on looking up videos to better explain how to work with the yarn.

I'm a true beginner and the kit is ok. I think you could do better however with a set of bamboo needles, a ball of yarn and YouTube. Immediately traded the stainless needles for bamboo. Wool thread is 50/50 wool and acrylic according to Google translate. See photo. I don't hate it but probably probably could have done better myself for a kit had I known.

Great starter kit. You do need to check out a few videos to learn, the instructions are not enough but I didn't expect that either. I
