  • There are two differences. The larger the number of the Black Mist Diffusion Filters, the greater the degree of highlight diffusion and the stronger the softening effect of the texture; 1>1/2>1/4>1/8. Otherwise, it will weaken

  • 1/8: Prefers natural transition highlights to prevent the audience from noticing the existence of the filter.

    1/4: Balanced softness/clarity, newbie-friendly.

    1/2 & 1: Strong softening for dreamy/hazy scenes

  • It is suitable for outdoor photography, especially night city photography. When shooting point light sources, the Black Mist Diffusion Filters can make the highlights produce a halo effect.

  • The black diffusion filter of K&F CONCEPT has almost the same effect as the black mist of Tiffen, helping you get the effect of black mist at a more affordable price.

  • Yes, the effect of using photos is the same as that of videos

Great quality on a budget. I have used quite a few different K&F filters over the years and they've all been good. Personally I couldn't really tell the difference between the Shimmer 1, Black Mist 1/8, and Black Mist 1/4 so I just kept the Shimmer for now. I will probably go back for the combo Black Mist 1/4 + CPL some day to keep on my other lens for automotive photography.

Great for night photography! I wish it was made out of brass, but excellent value for the price.

This filter is study, slim, and gives a great bloom to light sources softening the hard edges of street signs, traffic lights, and other bright sources. It adds a smooth halo in a soft haze around light sources giving a nostalgic film feel to your photos while preserving details and texture.

Fantastic filter. Use it on a Fuji XT-30 II. The effect is subtle enough to leave it on pretty much permanently but it really improves the mood of my photos and takes away the "digital harshness". I love the effect it provides for portraits and especially how it adds some blooming/softening to lights. Especially for the price this is a great filter and I'm excited to try more from this brand.

I keep one of these filters on each of my lenses. They add a very subtle mist effect that helps disguise highlights and shadows ever so slightly. It adds a slight film effect to your footage or photos that I used to add in post using presets but this makes it so I can do less editing.

I recently picked up the K&F Concept 58mm Black Diffusion 1/4 Filter, and it’s been an awesome addition to my camera gear! It creates a beautiful, cinematic mist effect that softens the image just the right amount—perfect for video work. The filter is easy to attach and fits perfectly on my lens. I also love the 18 multi-layer coatings that help reduce flare and improve overall image clarity. Whether you're shooting a short film or just want to add some creative flair to your videos, this filter is a great way to elevate your shots. Highly recommend for filmmakers looking to enhance their visuals!

Para mí gusto este filtro tiene la intensidad de difusión perfecta y genera unos halos de luz muy estéticos.A primera vista no he notado que haya variaciones en el color de la imagen o que se pierda nitidez.En calidad precio no sé si habrá mejor opción.

I have a few black mist type diffusers, including the more expensive K&F Nano-X, and even more expensive Tiffen. I bought this Nano-K series version half expecting to return it but thought it worth testing out given the much lower cost. Construction-wise it is as solid and well made as the Nano-X using the same finely machined “aircraft grade” aluminum. Screw thread is precise and smooth. K&F give very little useful information about the the actual differences between their filter series, except that the Nano-K is meant to be “basic level” compared to the supposedly more professional Nano-X and Nano-X Pro series. If you read the manufacturer’s small print, they are all made from optical grade glass from Japan, have advanced multi-coating and resistant to moisture and mold. So what about the effects performance? Again, I was prepared for disappointment. All brands of this type of black diffusion filter have subtle differences, as is well covered by numerous YouTube videos. The Tiffen for example tends to give slightly less intense diffusion for a given rating (i.e., 1/4 vs. 1/8 etc.) than the Nano-X, but both are equally good a preserving the blacks and fine detail in the mids, which is why we like them. When compared to the Nano-X, I can see no visible difference whatsoever in the image produced by the Nano-K. This was tested on a Canon C100 Mk-2 with a variety of lenses and conditions. For this reason, my advice would be, given the choice between the Nano-X and Nano-K, without hesitation get the latter. A side note: the Nano-K series appears to have been originally marketed in Germany, evident from Google searches and the small print on the packaging, i.e., GmBH, as place of origin. My conspiracy theory is that these were initially targeted for a European demographic and price expectations. Anyway, the bottom line is that here in Canada/USA they are a phenomenal bargain and not to be missed while available.
