It is fun to play. I am not very good at working the number, so being able to move the numbers around makes it more fun.

We have another very similar board to this, the design is extremely similar but overall the woods and finishing of this set is not really as nice as the other one which only costs a few dollars more right now. The wood lacks lacquer and is a bit rough, the pieces all fit together well but just lacks, overall, the amount of polish I was expecting including the number pieces. One thing this does do better than our other board is that the drawer where the pieces go actually has lanes in it for sorting the numbers instead of being a big empty space where everything mixes together without any organization. I'd say that while this isn't a bad board by any means, I'd personally rather spend just slightly more to get a set that has been lacquered and finished nicely.It does take a bunch of time to set up each puzzle, as expected, and it's honest to goodness not nearly as convenient as just working with a preprinted sukodu puzzle book that you just write in but there is something to be said about playing the game with the physical tiles that I like. Of course you can always just set up the board with whatever puzzles you might find elsewhere so it's pretty much infinitely replayable.

Received for unbiased review...This is a very simple Sudoku game in a box that is really nicely made. The wood game board that doubles as a storage box has separations in its drawer so that you can more easily organize your game pieces. The joints used to put the box together are well fitted, and its overall appearance looks well made. But it would be nice for it to have a thick and durable lacquer coating to protect the wood. The game pieces are precisely square, and uniform. Unfortunately, the stamping method needs improvement. Several pieces have their numbers so far offset that they are coming close to the edges of the wood pieces. Some of them have also not been stamped with even pressure causing part of the number to be faded (I have a number 5 piece that is very faint at the bottom of the 5). But over all I like having the separators for the pieces and the extra storage for the instruction manual/puzzle booklet. It also came with an extra set of numbers, just in case. I'm reducing a star because of the number stamping issue, but over all, it is a nicely made board.

I am not going to review the game itself, because just about everyone has already solved a Sudoku puzzle at some point in their lifetime. I want to comment on the quality of this game board. The game board is well-crafted out of high quality wood. It is sturdy and attractive. I ordered this game to display on an entertainment table with other wooden puzzles.I knew at the time I ordered this game that I was not going to keep the obnoxious blue lines. I covered them over with black Sharpie. This is a temporary fix. Once I have a bit more time, I plan to cut strips of black vinyl to apply over the Sharpie.

It is well built. Fun to use. Small enought to carry along but big enought to use easily. The self storage draw holder all the tiles and the book.

I had a beautiful, high end wood sudoku game set that got lost in our recent move.It cost about $45 and wad nice heavy duty, furniture quality woods and finish.I dont play sudoku as much as I used to, but do want to play on occasion.I chose this as the replacement.This is a much more basic, much less nicely finished set, but is also $25 less.Now that I have it in hand I find it to be perfectly serviceable.I do wish I had gone ahead and spent the extra $20 now because this is not a set i will leave out on my good furniture. The edges arent nicely sanded and polished and it will scratch.I will keep it and use with a felt underlaymentMy fellow viner “hairy potter” (who keeps making the same puzzle and game choices I am making I might add) is correct in noting that the blue stripes are pretty tacky. I followed his lead and used a sharpie to blacken the lines.

I love sudoku but I am awful at it. I rarely finish a puzzle because I end up erasing holes in my pages. This....is awesome! I can make all the mistakes in the world and just keep starting over. Except that I've introduced the kids to sudoku and now they keep pointing out and fixing my mistakes because even they are better at it than I am!
