You can use the 40-6515 rotary laser level indoors or outdoors to project a 360-degree horizontal or vertical beam of light and establish a level plain. This is great for anything from installing drop-ceilings and putting in kitchen cabinets to setting foundations, leveling outdoor decks, and building retaining walls. The beam is actually a single dot of light that can rotate at 200, 400, and 600 RPM to give the appearance of a 360-degree chalk line. To switch the tool from a horizontal beam to a vertical one, simply turn it on its side.

Unlike bubble and spirit levels, whose accuracy depends on the people holding them, the 40-6515 rotary laser level self-levels automatically to within plus or minus 3 degrees. Consequently, as long as your level is calibrated correctly, you can tackle building projects with confidence and achieve error-free results. The tool also has an illuminated vertical vial for manual leveling in the vertical plane. Visual and audible alarms let you know when the device is out of level.

To help you take precise measurements for your project, the 40-6515 is accurate to within plus or minus 1/8 of an inch at up to 50 feet away. It has an interior range of up to 200 feet in diameter, depending on the light conditions, and an exterior range of up to 800 feet in diameter.

Works great. Use it to make sure grade is correct for water drainage. Also got it before the expected date.

No complaints at all. Self-leveling, good range (with laser detector), doesn't burn through batteries. Good match with my "DEWALT DW0737 Tripod" that I also bought on Amazon. BTW, you really need to have the "JOHNSON AccuLine Pro 40-6700 One-Sided Laser Detector with Clamp" to really make this thing useable though, unless you are using it indoors only.

Ordered this to replace another laser that I wore out, but it didn't work for me and returned it. My issue was using it outside. Unlike my previous rotating laser which had a single dot that you could rotate around via remote control, this unit's laser was spun around at various speeds. The drawback was you couldn't see the laser in any kind of sunlight and for my kind of work, walking around with a detector (which didn't come with it) didn't make sense. Too bad, because it seems like a really well-built unit.
