I recently found some old cassette tapes that were recorded over 20+ years ago in storage, and I wanted to find out what was on them. I decided to purchase the Jensen Portable Cassette Player, and here are my thoughts:1. **The Good**: - **Great Price**: The price is very reasonable, making it an affordable option for anyone looking to revisit their old cassette tapes. - **Functionality**: It definitely allows me to listen to my old tapes, which is exactly what I needed. - **AM/FM Radio Feature**: The player comes with an AM/FM radio feature, adding extra value and versatility. - **Included Headphones**: It comes with a set of cheap headphones, which is a nice addition, although they are not of the highest quality.2. **The Bad**: - **Noisy Motor**: The motor is quite noisy, which can be distracting while listening to tapes. - **Limited Functions**: The player only has a rewind function and no fast-forwarding option, which can be inconvenient. - **Playback Options**: There is no option to switch between long play and standard play, limiting the playback experience.Overall, the Jensen Portable Cassette Player is a decent option for those looking to listen to old cassette tapes at a great price. However, the noisy motor and limited functions may be a drawback for some users.

This player worked well with good quality tapes and has great sound quality. Lesser quality tapes that play in a receiver type cassette player don't work in this portable unit. Also the headphones didn't work but that didn't bother me as I have several.

It is not a high-end product, nor is it a disposable device, but something in between. You can't go wrong at that price.Advantages that this device offers:1) The sound head has been adjusted by the manufacturer quite precisely to azimuth accuracy. Therefore, you can hear and enjoy azimuth-accurate recordings with a certain sharpness with the device.(It took me 3 days in 2012 to adjust my DENON tape deck ‘DENON DR-M12HX’ to a fairly accurate azimuth (optical method). This means that I am more accurate than the people who work with any measuring devices, which was later confirmed by the Lissajous figures of the measuring software ‘NAK T-100’ - a diagonal stroke is shown almost constantly.)2) The price:A cheap product that you wouldn't be too sad about if it broke. Compared to the walkmen of the ‘Pearl Mailing House’, such as the ‘DIGITNOW-Series’, this product is clearly a cut above these products. With these devices I managed to adjust the azimuth twice afterwards, with the result that the sensitive devices were broken.3) Behind the belt clip is a small screw, with which the speed can be adjusted very easily. (This I have already done.)4) The wow-and-flutter is within a tolerable range. (For synchronization, it helps to operate the wind forward button for a few seconds without a cassette.) If you want to go for a device with top notch measured values when buying a Walkman, then you have to look for a more expensive product. These are mostly older devices that often have to be overhauled. (If you really want the Walkman quality of an expensive tape deck, you should buy a SONY of the WM DD series – or even better – the ‘SONY WM D6C’ with recording functionality (price: 300 to 1000 Euro)).5) The omission for setting the azimuth allows a simple adjustment. (Remember that with correct recordings, the voice is – at least in most cases – in the middle of the stereo room. )I do not want to list disadvantages here again, as they are apparent from the text.(If you wanna hear the sound quality of this product, there are a few videos on YOUTUBE.com, one of which demonstrates this to you.)(Best regards, A.S.)

Update:I wanted to love this thing and I did until the earphone jack quit working. I guess the output jack works, but you can't control the volume with use of output jack.------------------------------------This model is the absolute least expensive walk man style player. It also offers the least in functionality. But hey, that's ok because it works great with a bit of help.First thing you have to do is dump those garbage earbuds it comes with. I mean these worse than the kind you get for a dollar. Put in some decent earbuds from an old cell phone and this thing rocked!I really wanted to send this back but for the money and the sound it's a keeper!Even though my list of cons is more than pros I still love this thing and keeping it. It just has that old school vintage feel. Very cool.Pros:1. Sound2. Lightweight3. Comes with belt buckle4. Output jack may come in handyCons:1. No external speaker2. No rewind button3. Poor sound with included earbuds4. Does not come with AC adapter/cable (no batteries either)5. The inside of the deck has visible wiring. If you're ok with bare bones functions and replacing the earbuds then this cassette player may be the one for you too.

My Cassette Player works perfectly good. I'm delighted that it has an AC Adapter Plug as an alternative to Batteries, and it has a Line Out Jack to connect directly into a Stereo Amplifier. The sound over my Stereo & 8 Inch Speakers is perfectly good. You can't expect top quality sound from tiny little Ear Buds, but the sound output through the Line Out is industry standard. This Player will meet your needs both as a Walkman and to play Cassettes over your main Stereo. It enables you to have a Stereo Amplifier without a built-in Cassette Player, and it is certainly worth the money.

For the price this is an excellent little cassette player. I own many high range Sony Walkmans as I'm still much in love with my tape collection and with decent earphones this sounds superb given the price. Old skool nostalgia without the price tag. If you are an audiophile im sure you will pin point in accuracy in audio quality but for me it sounds as good as any walkman from my youth albeit in a much more simple form. But form fits function. It sounds good with good earphones, yes the ones included are not great but for the price how can you complain. Very impressed and more importantly surprised. I've purchased some of the other retro mono players and they really are only worthy of the bin in comparison to this player. Very good from a relatively unknown at least in the UK company.
