My cottage has an acre of subtropical forest surrounding it. I need to keep these trimmed artistically so as not to block the view of the ocean below. I have used other pole pruners for at least thirty years, and they have always turned out to be flimsy, bendy things that rust and end up with broken "junctions" between the pole. Being nearly eighty-years-old, I had essentially given up trimming using the last set of poles I bought. But after a year, I could barely see the sea through the woods, and decided that I would spend extra and purchase the "Jameson FG-6PKG-7 FG-Series Manual Pole Saw and Tree Pruner." After many hours of using them, sometimes in dense forest damaged by Hurricane Maria, I consider the Jameson poles to be a revelation in what one should use to cut overhead branches and small limbs in a forest. Even at my age, it makes pruning a joy.The packaging was solid and undamaged, but the cutting knife was sticking. So I emailed the Jameson service people, and described the problem. The e-mailed my back within minutes, offered a free replacement if I couldn't fix it, and then (on my request) set me up to ask one of their engineers who told me to just loosen a lock bolt about 15-degrees. That took me less than a minute, and it never got stuck since. I have to say, this was the best service ever.As for the product, the wide mouth head easily cuts through 1 1/2 - 2" of most of my hardwoods, although the ironwood tree (the one that sinks) can be a challenge. It is solid, plenty sharp, and has a massive spring unlike the shoddy products (not bought at Amazon) I have previously owned. The rope is thick. The pole, while it does flex some, is solid as compared to the other products I have used. The pruning saw is sharp, and I was surprised at how quickly iit eats through 3-4" limbs.Highly recommended for anyone who has real tree trimming and pruning work to do, and well worth the extra money.

Double pully works well and minimizes effort. Sharp blade snips through thick branches with ease. Confident feel in the durability of the poles throughout usage. Saw blade wasn't used often the first time around on but the few occasions it was needed, it ripped through the wood without showing signs of wear. Considering one or more extension poles to get a little higher. It's not a fun job but this is the right tool when you gotta do what you gotta do.

Nothing to dislike. Slightly pricey

I bought this bundle and two additional 6' poles separately so that I have 4 total 6' poles. The bigmouth DOUBLE Pulley pruner is worth the extra money. A very easy pull but it does take a little longer of a pull on the line to get the full cut. My technique, reach way up and take a wrap on the cord around my hand and pull the full length of my arm and it does the trick. I have cut 2" branches with ease!!! I'm able to use the pruner with 3 sections of poles (18'). It's a bit heavy when reaching out more than 20-30 degrees from vertical. I'm 5'10" and about 190 so I'm not the strongest guy but I can manage it. Three poles (18') with the pole saw is much easier to manage and lighter. I haven't added the 4th pole yet but many reviews say it's unmanageable. If I do, it will be for only vertical reaches for simple cuts or prunes. My only complaint is the clips that lock the poles together can be a bit tough to release at times. But they lock well and I don't have to worry about them unlocking. I've been a DIY tree pruner for about 8 years and have previously only used the simple poles sold at local hardware stores. NEVER going back to those. I completed more pruning in about 1 hour that previously would have taken me 2+ hours. No jamming of the blade and only smooth cuts. This set is outstanding.

The 15” blade cuts fast Best pole pruner I’ve used. Professional quality. This one is sectional. Better than telescoping. Saw or cutter install and remove easily. Better than a combo pruner with both saw and cutter all the time. I look forward to lots o’ cuts. After owning this for several years I'm adding to my review. Get a manual powered pruner first. It u want a powered pruner, get that one second. I have better reach, can quickly and easily cut 3" limbs. Guys with powered limb saws scoff at first when I pull out my Jameson saw. Then one guy wants to try, then another, then they want to know where I got it. There's always those that prefer powered equipment, and I will say there is definitely jobs for powered equipment. But when I pull out this saw, I know it will start first pull every time!
