I bought this as a gift for a friend and her new camera and lens. The collar is lens-specific, and I double-checked to ensure I ordered the correct collar.I installed the collar on her lens. The collar will only go on the lens one-way, and the collar needs to be fully opened (thumb-screw all the way out) to go onto the lens. To get it to fit over the lens without binding or scratching the lens I had to fully back out the locking screw, then pull or pry the collar fully opened. This was a bit fiddly, but not difficult. The collar fit, and importantly, all of the openings matched the layout of the controls on the lens.I also gave my friend a gimbal mount and tripod. The foot of the collar has an ARCA style mount milled into the bottom of the foot. Before installing the collar onto the lens I checked the ARCA mount and found that it fit nicely onto the ARCA receiver on the Gimbal mount. Her camera is a Canon R7. I installed the camera/lens combo onto the gimbal and began adjusting it to get it to neutral balance. The length of the collar's foot was just a bit short to allow it to balance completely. It would not slide far enough forward on the gimbal base, so the camera/lens is a bit back-heavy. Not much, but enough to keep it from staying exactly in place when you let go of the lens. I used a secondary, and longer ARCA mount attached onto the lens foot to get additional adjustment length, and got everything balanced. The fit and finish of the collar appears to be very good. No rough edges, no splotching or discoloration of the finish, and all of the control windows were pretty much exactly where they need to be.One issue I found is that this particular lens mounted on a Canon R7 leaves very little room on the right side (shutter-release side) between the lens and the camera grip (the actual camera grip, not a battery grip or additional unit, just the basic camera). There is an external button in that space, and with my larger hands and fingers it was difficult to access. This is a problem with the camera and lens without the collar installed. The collar makes it marginally worse. Not really a problem, and not specific to this collar as there is nowhere else on the lens to install a collar/foot unit, and whatever collar/foot unit you put on will have the same issue, but thought someone out there might want to know. The Canon R7 is quite small, much smaller than the DSLR's I generally use. I do not think this would be an issue with a larger camera body.I dropped the rating one-star as it should have been designed to allow balancing on a gimbal mount without using an auxillary ARCA mount. That problem will be worse with a larger/heavier camera body. Easily corrected with a longer ARCA mount.

Fits my RF 100-400 perfectly and seems to work great. So happy that it balances things a bit more with this lens attached to my Canon R7.
