I bought a .5G and 1.3G crock from Humble House to test out. I've been fermenting off and on since 2007. Back then I started with a large, expensive Harsch Gartopf German crock with ceramic weights and a water trough. The German crock was just too big. I only ferment foods for me; doing small batches of kraut, kimchi and sometimes lacto-fermented pickles. These Humble House crocks are a perfect size for 1 person jobs or for small batch experimentation. These crocks are affordable, which allows me to own a number of them to ferment different foods simultaneously. The glaze and finish of the Humble House crocks is excellent! The German crock had a very rough finish and the weights were unglazed. I've sold the German crock and plan to buy a couple more of the smaller Humble House crocks. Very happy with them.My only complaint is the entrance hole on these mini crocks is a little too small and it is tough to get my whole hand in. An inch bigger would have made a big difference. Also, the wood stamper is kinda small diameter, but I have my own stompers, so just saying. The company does a good job keeping the cost down on the crocks and I would not like paying a higher price just to get an unneeded larger stomper with the package. Just look at the included wood stomper as a bonus item and not a top end stomper. Thanks, Humble House for making a well-designed, affordable and quality product!Daniel D. Heavy, not cheaply made, easy to read instructions. I have made sour kraut in this crock for the last 2 years. It comes with every thing you need except the cabbage!

UPDATE: the customer service of this company is awesome. They reached out and proactively offered a refund for the defected item. Definitely offers ease of mind if there are any issues with the crock.---I’ve been using this crock for two weeks now and have made two batches of sauerkraut so far. It’s cute and functions well overall. Just a couple issues to note: 1) the wooden stick it came with had a small chip in the coating which is growing with use. Not too bad of an issue, just annoying to have to remember to use the other side of the stick, 2) the crock itself has a small opening so it’s a little hard to put in the vegetables if your hands are bigger, and 3) the inside of the crock has a lot of crevices so washing it makes it a little more difficult, especially if you want to get it really clean and all the water out before using it again.Overall, not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it again. I’d probably stick with a glass jar.

This small humble team is dedicated to meet your satisfaction. They have a product that is diffiuclt to ship, vunderable to shipping breakage, but are determined to make you completely satisfied. I can vouch for these statements because my first Crock pot came delivered in 50 pieces-very broken. It was replaced immediately no questions asked, just want to make me happy and satisfied with my purchase. This second crock pot had a hair line fracture in the lid, and they replaced it as well. I vouch for their customer service as excellent. Currently we have made some sauerkraut using 6 heads of green cabbage, and it is excellent, and it has been fermenting for over 10 weeks, and is mighty tasty at 6wks. The crock pot works fine, the Humble team is the best!

This is the perfect crock for a small kitchen. I've used it for a number of ferments, but I especially love it for making kimchi. The unit is very solid, and the glazing is perfect throughout. The waves are solid and do the job perfectly. It's a great size for sitting on the counter without taking up too much room. Would definitely recommend, especially for beginner fermenters like myself who are just getting started and need a reliable crock to work with.

I bought the red one, love the ceramic weights, water channel and tamping rod. I even like the packaging to store it in the original box.One thing I've noticed is when I use 1 kg of cabbage it fills it about halfway. The handles actually stick out on the inside of touch, which means the weights won't lie flat side by side each other exactly where the handles are! I've already made several batches but only one batch was affected by this. It's by no means a design flaw, maybe, but something to be aware of. Once you keep pushing down on the weights, they go below the handles and then they lie flat beside each other.

I originally had a stone crock left to me by my grandfather, I had a collection of random stuff to make a complete set. I finally decided just to get a complete set and this has everything you need in one kit. Easy to use, a little hard to clean because of the water lock, not super easy to get under the lid. This was to be expected though. I took 1 star off because there are places that glaze is missing. I didn't find any missing glaze on the inside so I don't think it should cause an issue but it points to maybe some inconsistency in quality control.
