This is an outstanding calculator. I got it to replace my TI-nspire CAS after that calculator started dying - and this blows the TI out of the water.First thing you'll notice when you take it out of the package is, this is a seriously sharp-looking device. Jet black case, glossy screen, brushed metal keyboard deck, shiny chrome HP branding. The rocker wheel in the center is metal and has a Zenbook-esque finish(fine concentric rings cut into the surface.)Second, you should note that the glossy screen is 1. In color, which while not necessary, is a very nice touch; and 2. is a touch screen. Point 2 is of special interest; having a touchscreen is so much more elegant than trying to mouse around the screen with a miniscule trackpad, like on the TI-nspire. Tap, I can check the battery level, see the time and date, and see which angle mode it's in. One more tap, and I can switch between degrees and radians at a moment's notice(the Nspire hid this behind a nest of menus). It is also much easier to highlight or place the cursor where you want it.Third, when you go to use it, you'll discover that all the buttons are large, well-labeled and organized, attractively beveled, and feel extremely satisfying under pressure as you type on them. I had no difficulties learning my way around the keypad, even coming from the dramatically different Nspire. There's nothing revolutionary here, but this important part of the calculator was engineered right, with a human user in mind.Fourth, there are a number of apps included with the calculator for different functions. This isn't impressive in the smartphone era, but calculators have lagged far, far behind modern technology for much too long. Examples of these apps include a spreadsheet, an advanced graphing tool, and specialized statistical applications. The notepad can be accessed quite readily with Shift-0(which is clearly labelled for this purpose, so no memorization of that shortcut is needed), and new notes can be added very easily.Fifth, you can recharge this calculator. That's right, no batteries needed, this calculator can be recharged like you would your phone. I hasten to add that, while the charging port(which is also the data port) does not appear at first glance to be mini-USB port, it is compatible with your standard mini-USB phone charger(a cable is provided with the calculator). Simply align the pins first. I say this, because I probably spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to charge it with a mini-USB cable, without it having a mini-USB port. Again, the port and the cable ARE compatible, just line them up properly. One minor quibble: the calculator lid can be rather difficult to remove from the back(for when it's in use). This will no doubt change as it breaks in through use, but it is still annoying in the meantime.

This calculator is extraordinary. I've had in my hands other calculators like the Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium, the Casio Classpad 330, the Texas TI-nspire and the HP 50g. All are extraordinary calculators with different capacities, some perform things that others do not. However always my favorite had been the HP 50g for its great flexibility and versatility, it is a futuristic calculator that despite being an improvement the HP 48GX was very well built and although the learning curve was quite long to master all its operation Was very complete. And now that I have purchased the HP Prime, I have not been disappointed !!! I thought I would not be able to do many things I did on the HP 50g but it is not. The HP Prime has a great operating system, an exquisite presentation, a touch screen that goes of luxury, a very nice appearance, super easy to use and something that I have loved is its super speed !!! This calculator leaves behind all the others, it is incredibly fast !!! It does almost all calculations and graphs instantly. It has 18 factory applications that are super useful for most of the problems you face in high school or college, but besides that you have a lot of commands and functions to program it, I still have a lot to master. It has an extraordinary Geometry application that allows to do a lot of things with figures, lines, points, transformations, animations, and all that can be combined with the other integrated applications or be manipulated by some program created by the user, giving the calculator a Very good programming ability to perform complex tasks, and that coupled with incredible speed !!! The CAS system for symbolic calculations should be even more debugged and constantly updated as it presents some bugs yet, but they are things that are solved with the updates. This calcualdora has a spreadsheet, which allows you to perform various things and combine them with the calculator commands. It has something a little strange for beginners, which is the use of two working environments: Home mode and CAS mode. The Home mode is like for approximate calculations, logarithms, roots, powers, etc .; While CAS mode performs integrals, derivatives, equation solutions, geometry commands, and more. The battery life is very good since I have almost 1 month and I have not recharged it although I have not used it intensively but I have noticed very little decrease in the load. In short, it has a lot of features that make it a "treat" for the user.
