I purchased this for my outdoor lights as my outlet is in my shed, so rather then having to walk outside each time, I turn the lights on with the remote from inside my home and they go off according to the setting I have it on. I have it on 4 hours and they turn off promptly at 4 hours. I cannot attest to it being waterproof but works well for what I am using it for...

I needed a new timer for a Christmas display. This unit was a good choice. The unit is solid and very easy to use. I have used it in two Wisconsin winters.

I used this switch about 4 times in a 45 day period. The last time I used the switch, it overheated and melted the output socket. I was well below the 80% rule of advertized limits of voltage and amperage that this product is rated for.

My husband set this up to have our outdoor Christmas lights on a timer. It’s now been in our non-heated garage for months, ending the cold Canadian weather and hasn’t given us any issues whatsoever. Definitely pleased with this timer and will buy the same one again if we happen to add extra lights elsewhere next winter.

This was a good choice; I wanted a dusk-to-dawn controller that could handle a couple of light strings and this worked out perfectly. I have to be honest, I never used the remote. I kept this covered as much as possible at the outlet, but it never had a problem even in the rain (off the ground so never shorted). The only drawback was I couldn't close the outlet cover completely, the wire was too thick.

I have strings of the very small incandescent Christmas lights strung around my back fences and yard. This unit illuminates them at dusk for several hours making the backyard look very pretty. It also illuminates the walkways to either side of the house inexpensively. So far I use this controllerone for about Four months without any problems. It turns the lights on once it gets dark for two hours The handheld on off remote is on my kitchen windowsill and I can activate these lights from inside the house pointing this about 15 feet at the unit that is laying on the mulch by my tree.

This works for the most part but sometimes it just decides not to work on random days. Maybe it dislikes the cold the same as me??

Some reviews have mentioned that the battery supplied with the unit is dead. It's not dead, but wrapped with plastic so it can't make contact without removing the wrapping. This is not obvious since the wrapping is very thin and conforms completely to the battery. Just peel it off and the battery works fine.The remote control works as advertised. I didn't have to pair it to the timer - it worked first time. Haven't had a chance to try the automatic activation yet.

If there is any light from a far light it won't work, and stopped completely after first strong rain
