The blender started smoking on our very first use from the bottom of the machine. I would not advise on purchasing this product. Very unsettling experience.

Der Hamilton macht einen guten Eindruck.Leider konnte ich ihn bisher nicht benutzen, da ich erst mal einen Adapter für den Stecker (US auf EU) bestellen durfte.

I have only had this blender for about four weeks, but so far it is working very nicely for what I need it for. My older (and more expensive) blender was still working and I hated to buy another but it was leaking everytime I used it. I tried to get a replacement of the part I needed but the model had changed and I couldn't find one for the one I had. Mostly I only use it make my mocha frappes so I decided to try a cheaper blender that said it would crush ice. That was the most important thing for me. So I ordered this one and it does ice pretty well...it leaves a few chunks here and there but most it works fine for what I need. I have still my old blender in case there are things it works better for but so far I haven't needed it, so I do not regret this purchase at all. I haven't even tried all the buttons on it so I may never need the old one. At this point I highly recommend it and especially to those like me that mainly just need it for making drinks.

What you are getting is a professional class blender with a flaw: the lid doesn't fit on after you remove it the first time. So, if you can hold the lid on, you will be very happy with this blender. Is the lid thing annoying? Yes. Is the blender a really great one? yes. So don't buy this if you can't hold the lid on, in other words, if you are impatient. But if you have a little patience, it's totally worth the money. I'm stoked to have it in my kitchen, I'm terribly poor and do not regret the purchase. I feel like I made a good choice when I took the risk on the lid. The lid is well designed with its pour spout and a hole to put things in while the lid is on it just doesn't fit tight on unless you hold it.Postscript:To fix, pour boiling hot water over the part of the lid that goes INTO the glass. (Don't submerge the whole lid) -- JUST the part that is at the bottom of the lid, the thin wall that fits into the glass. Pour a couple kettle fulls slowly onto this area, turning the lid to get it all, then immediately when you are done, put the lid into the glass jar part of the blender. Hold it all the way down with a heavy weight and let it cool completely. Now I can get the lid to push all the way down , snap into place, and it stays. :)

Updated Review 10/38/24: It works! I made a smoothie with about 1 1/2 cup of frozen fruit, 1 fresh banana, and about 1 1/2 cup of almond milk and 1 tbsp chia seeds. It blended perfectly on the “grind icy drink” setting. I bought this to replace my nutribullet (it gets stuck too often). I was surprised that it didn’t work the first time because a couple of my relatives have this blender and they say it works perfectly for them. I’m glad I gave it another try.Initial Review: I just received it, put in a few strawberries with almond milk and tried every possible setting but it did not blend. I had to tilt it around and it still did not created a nice blended smoothie just chunks of strawberry in almond milk.

I’ve had this blender before, and owned many other blenders and found myself coming back to this one, it’s not the greatest high tech blender but it does the job and I never have a clumpy smoothie drink when I use this blender. And I like that it’s really easy to clean once you just take it apart in pieces, which I didn’t realize until just recently.

I recently decided to try a vegetarian diet so it was a given I would need a blender to mix up some protein based drinks. I am not sure I will be staying a vegetarian so I did not want to spend $50 or more for a blender since I never needed one before now. Seems like the big factor is whether or not a blender can chop ice. Well this is not a factor for me since I have issues with brain freeze when just taking even a small sip of any slushy type drinks. That made it easier in my mind to go with a less expensive model. Based on the power it seems to have, I suspect it would chop ice just fine, but have not tried it and probably never will. That said, it has real good power and mixes up pretty much anything I put in it with no problem. So far that has been fresh fruit, veggies, soy based milks and various powders - nothing very challenging I suppose. I wanted a blender with a glass jar and this one has a very heavy thick glass jar with a very snug fitting top. I really like the flip open spout on the top too - it's very convenient. I usually mix a blender full of whatever, pour a glass...then put the jar in the fridge to store what is left. The 40 oz size is perfect for my needs and I like that it's shorter and more compact looking.I hand wash my dishes so to clean it I fill it with soapy water, put the top on and shake it to loosen up what is stuck to the sides. I finish the job with a long handled cleaning brush I have and I'm good to go. Doesn't take more than a couple of minutes to get it real clean - which is one reason I wanted a model with a glass jar. I have had plastic blenders in the past and the are just not as easy to clean and eventually get scratched and opaque looking, especially if you put them in a dishwasher. It's not super quiet I guess. I imagine higher end models might be quieter, but that is not a factor for me...hey it's a blender and they make noise. End of story. The only negative I would point out are the buttons on the front are a little cheap feeling so not sure how well they will hold up over time. I suppose that is expected for a blender at this price point. But IMO the heavy glass jar and super tight fitting top are more important features. Plus I could buy two or three of these blenders for the price of one of the higher end models. I only use it once or twice a week so it will probably last me a long time.Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and can recommend this blender for anyone who has similar needs and usage requirements.
