Perfect can opener, works every time, easy to use. I’m very happy. You might think it’s a given that can openers open cans easily. Sadly it’s not. This one works great. Cuts from side, so no sharp edges, extra bonus.

This is a tall electric can opener to accommodate bigger cans but it also works on smaller cans. It took me a little while to realize that the can was already opened, because it cuts so cleanly around the top, then you lift it off. You can't really see that it has been cut all the way around. I notice a little difference in the sound when it's gone all the way around once. It also has a scissors tucked in a back pocket, which will be useful around the kitchen. I'm very satisfied with this can opener, since I have arthritic hands and need help opening cans.

This can opener is easy to use and works well. I love that it leaves a dull edge in the can. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it doesn’t pop the lid up when it’s cut the whole can, so I never know if it made a full circle.

The safety of this electric opener cannot be underestimated. The way it cuts the lid giving it a "lip" so that when you detach it from the can, you don't cut yourself, is incredible. The ergonomically friendly "push lever" is outstanding. Even my top notch manual openers have become impossible to open certain cans and this Hamilton Beach product is worth every dollar spent.

The electric can opener works really well. Cuts cans of all sizes, clean with no sharp edges to get cut on. Also comes with a small size scissor with a storage space for it in the back of the unit. Also has a convenient blade sharpener. I've purchased a few of these can openers in the past for myself & family members. I always come back to Hamilton Beach. I think they make quality appliances & never had a problem with them. Before using it, tho, don't forget to remove the small plastic blade protector. It's not very visible as it's clear, but pulls right off.All in all, a great bye, reasonably priced & works well. I highly recommend.

I want to preface this review by saying that I have never liked electric can openers and even refused to have one in my kitchen; I much preferred the non-electric hand turned ones. However, as I have gotten older and the arthritis has become increasingly painful in my hands, it has become sufficiently difficult and almost impossible for me to operate the old style hand crank can openers. So like it or not, I had to get an electric one. I evaluated multiple options, read multiple reviews, and watched multiple videos finally deciding on this one which I might add, I found most impressive. I did not want a battery operated model which either required batteries or needed to be recharged. I especially liked the fact that the cut was made under the rim on the outside and not inside thereby eliminating any sharp edges. I finally hit the purchase button and bought this Hamilton Beach model. The can opener is tall enough to accommodate taller cans yet easily fits underneath the counter. It is attractive, sleek, streamlined and easily cleaned. The scissors tucked in the back are an added bonus. The cord is relatively short but long enough to plug in where I use it. The can fits smoothly and efficiently under the blade, and the lever is easily operated with one hand. There are no sharp edges on the can lid after being cut open. On my first use I had a bit of trouble knowing when the can had been completely cut as I noticed no change in the sound emitted by the can opener and since the cut is on the outside not the top it is difficult to see the cut. That is certainly not problematic, and I am sure it is something that I will adjust to with time. This can opener works extremely well and is a dream to use. I would be wrong to not admit how much I have enjoyed using it and how much my hands appreciate it. Opening cans is usually an annoying part when cooking but, this product makes it enjoyable to open cans. It is easy to use, quick, safe, and takes up very little room on the counter or in the cupboard after use. It opens cans uniformly and effectively and keeps the can sturdy after opening so nothing spills. Opens cans flawlessly every time and it was so good I had to buy two and have one at the cabin.

I had first seen over 40 years ago a can opened in the manner that this can opener opens a can. I was intrigued. I had never seen anything like it. Over the years we were stuck with an ordinary can opener but it was nearing the end of it's life. I just so happened to see this can opener on Amazon and bought one. It works fantastic, no sharp edges. Easy to use. The biggest thing I like is that rather than having to empty a partially used can into another container to put in the fridge, I just put the lid back on and put it in the fridge. I'm not having to wash extra containers, I'm not wasting water and soap or my time. Once can is empty I can wash it and re-use the can for so many other things like painting or parts sorting. Makes me feel good using something more than once. We have used the new can opener for some time and it works well each and every time. Very dependable.

I have arthritis in my hands and it's very painful to use can openers. I looked online as to what kind to buy with this condition. Well.....this one has excellent reviews and the price is decent. It arrived the very next day. I can't believe how EASY it is to use. Doesn't hurt my hands one bit. LOVE that it takes the lid off in a way that both lid and can are not sharp! Looks great beside my coffee maker. I am crazy over this can opener....and it has nice scissors at the back. Very easy to clean and has a nice long cord that can be pushed back in the back if you want it shorter. LOVE LOVE it!!! A definite buy for anyone on your gift list as well!

LOVE this can opener! It is so simple to use, with minimal effort! Opens all types of cans! Perfect for the elderly, or not so elderly who have limited hand or arm use; great for children, as there’s no sharp edges. Best investment with high recommendation! It is very sturdy; sits very solid on the counter; has a cutting knob at the height of 6 3/4”, or can be placed at the edge of the counter to cut deeper cans.After checking many reviews and reading some people’s struggle with it, I’m including clear use instructions.Just pull up top lever; place and hold can underneath round turning knob; then, with free hand, push down lever half down to locked position, or proceed with pushing it all the way down to begin the cutting. As soon as the cutting sound becomes a little higher pitch, the cutting is done; release lever! Hold can with one hand and pull up lever with the other hand, to release the can.*** Lid is cut in the middle of the side rim; not underneath it (as I thought, at first.)I have had mine for several months, now, and it opens my cans, perfectly, every time!Includes a great and handy little scissor for other needs.Push lever down for storage.

It seems to work by prying off the top of the can rather than cutting into anything. Requires both hands to operate: you have to hold the can against the device with one hand while pressing the activation lever down with the other. Pressing the lever engages a mechanism that grips the can in place so you don't need to keep supporting the can. The device immediately starts rotating the can with a whirring noise, and you have to keep pressing the lever until it's done. It doesn't stop automatically when the can is open; you just know it's done because the whirring noise jumps up in pitch. At that point you release the lever and remove the can--you don't need your other hand for this because the device holds the can in place until you remove it.On the whole I'm quite satisfied; it meets my needs. But a few usability quibbles which might matter to some people:- As noted above, you'll need 2 hands (or some other way to get the can in place while you push the lever).- Relying on the change in sound pitch to know when it's done won't be great for anyone who's hearing impaired. The opener leaves little indentations on the lid as it works its way around the can so you could use that as a visual cue, but an indicator light or auto-stop might be better.- I couldn't tell that it actually worked the first time I used it because the lid stays so perfectly aligned after operation and there's little visual evidence (apart from the little indentations noted above) that anything has changed. You have to pull up on the lid, which now easily comes loose.
