I say this sincerely, we have tried a number of waffle-makers before landing on this one in the past. We used it weekly as part of our sunday morning brunch routine for years. The locking clasp broke so we needed to replace our old product with a new one..., which Amazon carries! Extremely well made, the product heats evenly is easy to unstick with a very light brushing of oil and take only about 3 minutes to make a batch of waffles. A must have in your kitchen. This product is excellent value for money.

It woks as expected. Easy to use and small footprint for a 4 waffle unit. Extension cord a little short, but sufficient for countertop use.A little hot on the 2 sides, warm on top and bottom, but overall quite safe to use.The handle clasp not intended to clamp the cover shut, do not over-stuff with waffle mix

Being thicker, Belgian waffles, we find that two are about the same as four of the traditional size. We use a timer to cook them, because the "ready" light is indeed just a temperature sensor that lets us know when to begin cooking, not when to stop. Also, one can watch the steam, lift the lid to check, or use other approaches in the absence of a timer. Meanwhile, this cooker has good heat, and the waffles can be browned as much as desired. True, there is a slightly visible circular pattern in the finished waffle that reveals where the heating element is located, but it is a small difference in darkness, and not at all a problem of part of the waffle being overcooked while part is still raw -- the finished waffle is entirely cooked and quite consistent throughout. Also, a quick wipe, quite rapid cooling, close before or after cooling, wrap cord, and put away is all very easy and trouble free. The outside of the cooker seems to cool faster than our older, all steel model. If I needed a new waffle iron after this one, I would hope to find this same model still available. It is simply capable and handy, and we like it.

I suck at making waffles, I just wanna make that clear. This is my first waffle iron, so when I say waffles can stick to it and cook a little unevenly, I say it fully aware that it is probably just me. That said, they don't stick TOO much, and don't cook SO unevenly that it's bothersome. It makes waffles you can eat, and that's what I wanted. Plus a touch of cooking spray solves that first problem, so there's that. It's nice and cheap for what you get, and you can store it on its side, which means I am much more liable to use it because I can keep it easily accessible on the counter (I've learned I never make waffles when I have to dig in cabinets for the iron). The waffles are big, too, which saves me time. I notice a lot of the irons make waffles with the circumferences of cereal bowls. But I make food because I'm hungry, and I want to not be. For me, that is the point of food. I would have to stand at one of those tiny-a$$ irons for an hour before it made enough waffles for me, let alone my whole family. So yeah, it's big and it's quick, and if you cook in bulk like me, you can freeze these suckers and their sections actually fit down into a standard toaster. YES VIRGINIA THE TOASTER. It's like homemade eggos except these are made out of food.

I was looking for a waffle iron, after having one many yrs ago that I ïnherited (it was used but worked great). Don't remember what brand it was as I haven't had it in apx 15yrs, but remember that the heavy chrome lid was "heavy" and you didn't want it slamming down on your fingers! It was around Christmas '13 when my son came home from college and told me he "missed waffles" which he preferred over soft fluffy pancakes. So I was on an "urgent" search local stores during his 10day Christmas visit for a new, modern day waffle iron that was NOT huge & bulky, nor too expensive. Wow! There are so many choices of styles compared to the 70's-90's. So many to choose from, flipping irons, expensive & bulky, removable plates, non-removable. ps-seems everything these day are thicker Belgian waffles, not the thinner "waffles"of my childhood.Stores didn't have what I wanted. So, I went to AMAZON, where I should have from day 1 of my search and after I read MANY REVIEWS, pros & cons, I chose this one which was perfect for my family, for an occasional breakfast of waffles. Not huge footprint, has a "READY"light when hot, and makes 4 waffles. I ordered this on Sunday 12-29-13 at 8pm and luckily it arrived via AMAZON PRIME Tuesday later afternoon 12-31-13, within the promised 2day free delivery. Hooray! It arrived before he left on Thurs 1-3-14.Just wish it had 2 addition to make "perfect" for our occasional/infrequent use of the iron:1) a longer cord (maybe they all have very short cords these days?)2) a "ready/cooked" light when it's done (instructions say 3-6min, and after "steam"begins to end). Since we only had waffles 2x during his visit and I need to get the timing perfected. It seems for us it's 5-6min for a "drier / crispier" waffle. Hmmmmm, I guess I'll have to experiment to make the "perfect" waffle before he comes back at Easter from college! Yummy :-)
