Prepare an endless variety of food fast with the small Hamilton Beach 8-Cup food Processor & vegetable chopper. A stainless steel s-blade for chopping and pureeing, a reversible disc for slicing and shredding, 450 watts and 2 speeds plus pulse offer power and control.

Troubleshoot: (1) Unit does not operate on any speed or Pulse - * Is the unit plugged in? Does the outlet work? * Are the bowl and lid locked in place? See “How to Use” sections (2) Vegetables are not shredding or slicing - * Store vegetables with high water content in the refrigerator prior to processing. Room-temperature vegetables are less firm and do not perform as well (3) Unit has a burning smell - * There may be a residue left on the motor from the manufacturing process, causing a slight odor during initial use. This will go away. If a strong odor or any visible smoke appears, unplug unit IMMEDIATELY and call the Customer Service number. Other troubleshoot solutions are available on the user manual pg-11.

I love it. Works as described and was even quicker than expected. The slicer and shredder both slice a little thinner then I would like but I am not complaining. Intend to look for other discs. Easy to clean too.

I had this over a year and it worked great until I got in a hurry to shred 2 pounds of soft cheese. I did not check for instructions in the manual until after I burnt up the motor. The mozzarella was kind of soft and it got gummed up And smelled like something was burning. I turned it off, waited a bit and went at it again but this time it completely quit. .. It won’t come back on. It’s been a few days and it is apparently done for. . That said, I reordered it. Expensive lesson regarding patience and just maybe read the manual. So just a word of caution…

I bought this mainly to shred cheese. It works great! Also used it for nuts and meat. So far so good. I'm very happy with this food processor. Nice size- fits on my wire shelf.

Lightweight unit, blades are VERY sharp, use extreme care when washing/drying. Motor is relatively quiet, fast processing for any food item.

Given the chance, there's no doubt this machine could bore a hole through a brick wall. It's loud, but with the twin jet engines propelling this beast, it's going to make short work of anything you put in it. Pretty sure it could powder rocks.Be grateful for the suction cups on the bottom as that's what keeps this thing from leaping off the counter and chasing the dog.The barrel hold a full half gallon.HALF - GALLON!That's alotta freaking hummus and shredded zucchini.I love this unholy monstrosity! If you need to do big batches of anything fast, this is definitely worth the money!

Great little chopper. Works great and chops and shreds perfectly. The only thing is I wished it had more or better speed variables. But for the price and its actual use. It’s really great value

For the Black Friday price I was surprised at this food processor. This was replacing an old Hamilton Beach food processor that used a belt drive system for the blades. The direct drive that this uses in much better. It has two speeds, low and high. Plus a "pulse" mode that I use for chopping. The only shortcoming that I can see is the lack of blades. In addition to the primary chopping blade, it has a dual-purpose blade that slices and shreds. Turn it over one way and it shreds. Turn it over the other way and it slices. I don't know if other blades are available. As of this writing, I have not used the slicing/shredding blade.

4.25 starsI have owned a Cuisinart mini prep for almost 20 years now. It's always been handy for things like finely chopping veggies and nuts, but it's size makes it virtually useless for preparing things like dips (something I do fairly often) due to the small bowl size. I recently decided to look for a larger unit, but wasn't necessarily looking for something that had all the 'bells and whistles'. I wanted something mainly just to chop, grind and occasionally, purée. As part of the process of narrowing down my options, I decided to compare prices on Amazon, as well as (of course) read all the customer reviews. When it came to my wants/needs and budget, this one seemed to fit the bill, but it was the positive and informative customer reviews that ultimately decided things for me. For my intended usage I am completely satisfied with what this unit is capable of and how it performs, but there are a few things that would, IMHO, make it more deserving of a full five stars. First: this is extremely loud when in use. I knew that before I bought it and decided that (for the price) it was not a deal breaker, but it IS really annoying and I would definitely prefer something quieter. Second: trying to remove the chopping blade, especially when the bowl is full, can be difficult. The first things I prepared using this unit, was hummus and a spicy black bean dip. The weight of the dips (a full bowl of dip) created a suction that made removing the blade a real struggle. The centre part of the blade, which is made of a smooth, tapered plastic, became very slippery, making it almost impossible to get a good grip. I think some kind of a lip around the top of the cone would help make it easier to grasp. Also, like so many things theses days, this seems to be made almost entirely of plastic which, quite honestly, looks and feels really cheap. Whether or not it is durable, well, I guess only time will tell....I love that the lid can be turned upside down for storage, I find that very helpful and space saving. The suction cups on the bottom of this unit, which prevent it from moving around while in use, are helpful, however, they also make it a real pain to maneuver it in and out of my cupboard.Bottom line? This is certainly not a 'perfect' unit, but whatever flaws it may have (I feel) are relatively minor when factoring in price. I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

I can't believe this thing only cost $28. I've never owned a food processor in my life - I've always had this weird thing about having to chop everything by hand. And I cook a LOT. But I was finally thwarted by falafel - I had a grinder attachment for my KitchenAid that was just not cutting it, and my blender wasn't cutting it for the hummus I also love to make on the regular. Both made these simple foods take too long to prepare and make a huge mess. So I decided to initiate the Food Processor Experiment. This thing had great reviews so I thought it would probably be a good test subject.I had a batch of soaked chickpeas on deck and ready to go when this thing arrived in the mail (oh I love Prime.. as close as you can get to instant gratification). The first thing I threw in there was a big bunch of cilantro and parsley. Packed to the brim. Pulverized to perfectly uniform bits in seconds. I think I screamed. I took out the greens and next I threw in five cloves of whole garlic. Instantly shredded into fairly uniform bits, the size you'd get from chopping by hand. Then added two huge jalapeno peppers and some onions. Five seconds later, they are obliterated. At this point, I'm snapchatting the before and after photos of my chopped food to my sister and boyfriend, who are laughing at me. After all, I'm 27 years old, it's not like I've never witnessed modern technology before. Finally, I removed the previously mentioned ingredients and did the beans. Amazingly, they didn't stick, whole beans didn't float at the top while the bottom layer was turned to mush, but I think I did about 4-5 cups of whole beans at a time and let it go for 45-60 seconds and the falafel was perfectly ground with excellent uniform particle size and cohesion. They were my best batch yet. Since then I've been tossings things in there willy nilly, just to try out the shredding disc as well as the chopping blade. Made some almond and hazelnut flour from raw nuts. Sliced a whole bunch of celery and beets, cabbage, onion, with the shredding disc.My favorite things:- It's idiot proof and easy to click the bowl onto the base with one hand.- Easy to clean- The chopping blades are spaced well so that food at the top is drawn down toward the blade and your whole substance receives a uniform chop.- 8-cups is perfect. I think 10 cups would be too big for anything, really. I have made batches of food big enough for 10 people with this size easily. My only gripes with this processor...- It only has two speeds: 1 "Really High", and 2 "Insanely High". The Pulse function pulses at "Insanely High." So you can't really coarsely chop things like greens.- It is extremely loud. Think: laying your face directly against a vacuum cleaner. Or, a cheap hand mixer at its highest speed. If you live in an apartment your neighbors will definitely know when you're a-processin.' On the other hand, it'll only be for a few seconds because dang this thing is powerful.- Because of the high speeds, it is difficult to get uniform slicing when doing small/soft things like green onions or cucumbers with the shredding/slicing disc. It is just so fast that after the green onions get past the point where you can hand-feed it into the chute, they just get sucked in and shredded from whichever angle they hit the slicing blade. So, I had a bunch of green onions which were perfectly tiny cross sections, and a bunch of long skinny shreds of green onion that had been sliced longitudinally rather than axially. This wasn't a problem for harder things like onion, beets, and cabbage. which I was fine with being sliced that way. (If anyone has ideas on maneuvering around this, leave a comment!)If I could change anything, I would give it a low speed setting.Nevertheless, that doesn't change my overall starry-eyed adoration for this amazing contraption. It is an excellent value and super powerful for its price. I am very, very happy with this purchase. $30 well spent.
