Love it. I originally had Arlo. Kept freezing. And very difficult to reset. The Nest is so easy and no monthly charge for same service as Arlo that was $7.99 month.

This doorbell replaced the original 1st Gen Nest Doorbell I purchased in 2018. The original unit stopped communication with Google Home (and Apple Home via a Starling hub). I personally prefer this design over the new one. I have the wireless version of the 2nd Gen Nest Doorbell on my back door, so my opinion is valid. After installing the replacement doorbell, it seems that this unit has better resolution than the original model. I'm glad Google Nest is still selling them.

The video quality is crisp, even at night, and the motion detection is incredibly accurate. I love the app integration, which allows me to view live footage and get notifications instantly. Easy to install and packed with useful features like package detection and two-way audio.

I only bought it because my battery broke in the old one. Door chime wouldn’t work. I tried replacing the battery but it ended up completely breaking. I think it was 5 years old. Great product. Let’s you know when packages arrive

I can't believe Google didn't keep this design - a much nicer look than white plastic.Pretty easy to update the 'old' doorbell and keep the chime working. Just needed to ensure the Nest settings had the indoor chime turned on, plus upgraded doorbell to 16v AC 800mA (easy $20 eBay purchase).Recommend.

We had this for something like 4 years and we are generally happy with the performance. It’s true it’s outside in the cold Canadian winter and in full sun in the summer, but it should be made exactly for that. Anyway, last year the plastic on top started to peel off and then, a few days ago it just died. As we were ok with it and as I found a brand new one on Amazon for 115$ I just decided to keep it simple and bought it. I got it the next day and I just replaced the unit outside. No wiring changes. I removed the old one from the app and added the new one. A 15 minutes job and it works. All good. I just hope it will hold better than the older one.

The doorbell itself and Nest app are great, but I had to disconnect my second (rear) door chime as my transformer did not have enough power to ring both interior door chimes. The front one is plenty loud, so it was not a problem. If your mechanical door chime is not working after install, and you have 2 door chimes, try disconnecting one.

I brought this to replace my old first generation nest door bell which I had for 8 years. As the bracket was already in place it was easy to remove the old one and add the new one.

One of the best doorbell camers available. You just need to make sure your existing doorbell system is compatible before hand. I had to buy a new 16vac transformer that could produce enough amps because the old one we had was obsolete since it's an older house. If you have a regular doorbell system with a ding dong, it will most likely work. If you however have a fancy 3 or 4 chime doorbell with the mechanical gongs, it will not work as the fancy chime is an over complicated mess in regards to how it's wired. The camera angle and quality is satisfactory. The nest app is very good, though sometimes minor glitches, I really like the nest app. I however hate the google home app for viewing the camera. It's pathetic actually. Google is a degradation type of company and regresses instead of progresses. So proceed with caution.I am really only giving it 4 stars because nest is now run by google. When I first started buying nest products years ago, it was not owned by google. Bad move nest. The product itself should have 5 stars, but just make sure it is compatible with absolutely everything and if they ever drop the nest app, I would change this review to 0 stars in thst specific case if it happens, which is a fair chance.Recommended with reservations.

This smart doorbell is exactly what I needed. It is sleek, high video quality and a good application.Installation is straightforward, but make sure you select the ring type inside the app.

Update to Review, set to one star, May 2, 2023.I bought this in late DEC 2022, and it was delivered Jan 6, 2023. In late April, the device image went grainy. I've uploaded a picture. This can't be fixed with any sort of reset. I've contacted Google via phone and email, and logged a support case, and the response I get is:"We have already filed a request for the process of the replacement on your device and it shows here that Google does not provide a commercial warranty with your purchase. Please contact your original point of purchase to determine if a commercial warranty was provided with your purchase."On the Amazon product page for this Nest Doorbell, it indicates this:"Product Warranty: For warranty information about this product, please click here" .. and click through goes to a bare page on which it reads: "Please contact the seller directly for warranty information for this product. You may also be able to find warranty information on the manufacturer’s website."Great -- I'm in an infinite loop and neither side will help. So, two take-aways: • you're on your own after the Amazon return period (~1 month) • this is a low quality productAVOID!*********************************************Original Review, FEB 2023.I bought this to replace my SkyBell, which died after a network configuration change.I did the install for this myself, and it was troublesome. First, the doorbell indicated that the power voltage was insufficient. However it still worked to activate the existing mechanical chime doorbell inside. However it stuck the bell knockers (like tapping and holding, it muted the sound). I had to adjust the Chime Duration settings.Once I was through that, after some online research (I wasn't going to pay several hundred dollars for a "Nest Home Pro"), I researched more about the voltage problem. The voltage from my doorbell was insufficient - I think it was ~10V, and, for the Nest Doorbell (Wired), it MUST be 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA. These specifications are really important. At that point I got up in the attic and followed my doorbell wire back to the garage where I found the hard-wired transformer near my garage door. I reviewed its type, then went to Home Depot and bought a 20V Hampton Bay Wired Doorbell Transformer, for about $25, returned home, popped the breaker for the doorbell, checked there was no current, and upgraded my transformer. After that, the unit started up and I was able to complete the app-based installation process. This unit has an included SD card in it, and it's not necessary to get a subscription to use it, which was one of the main features I was looking for. I already have home cameras that record, so it saving the last few hours of photos is good enough.Video and audio quality is very good, and so is the night vision. It's possible to do two-way audio communication. The only other problem I have is that when I connect to it from my phone from within the house, sometimes it doesn't connect, but when I disable wifi on my phone and connect via cell, it works fine. (I had the same problem with my old doorbell).
