About this item

  • GM CLIMBING 8mm Prusik Loop, available in lengths of 18" and 24", yielding an MBS of 24kN /5400Lbs, and made of 100% high tenacity Polyester with CNC machine stitchings at joints. Used to tie friction hitches on the standing line of 11~12.5mm (7/16~1/2inch), such as prusik knot, autoblock, and Klemheist knot in mountaineering, climbing, canyoneering, caving, rope rescue, tree care by the arborist, rigging aerial hammock, lifting, and etc.
  • Supple in handling, and double-braid constructed to be solidly round, it's easy to tie, dress and untie hitch knots (Prusik, Autoblock, Klemheist, etc) with this Prusik loop. When hitches around the rope, to have a good grip, the recommended diameter range of the standing line is 11~12.5mm / 7/16~1/2 inch.
  • 24kN High Breaking Strength allows the Prusik loop to expand its areas from professional to general uses. CNC machine stitching of sewn joints keeps the loop neat and free from traditional bulky knots, whilst still withstanding high strengths; A heavy transparent heat shrink sleeve is applied around the stitching to protect it from abrading during use and allow you to easily inspect the stitching condition. That has the Prusik loop gain unbeatable durability and longer service life.
  • Made of High Tenacity Polyester to increase performance in various aspects, to get higher tensile strength and excellent abrasion resistance. Low water absorption makes the Prusik loop highly adaptive to outdoor activities. Double braid - Core and Sheath rope construction - this “sturdy sheath” further enhances great abrasion resistance and guarantees long-life utilization.
  • One of the most versatile gears added to your rack, compact and light, easy for carrying, convenient for a wide variety of uses, from ascending ropes, rappel or abseil backup, making tandem prusik belay in rescue, adjustable anchor set-up, to general recreational sports and activities, like rigging aerial yoga silk, hanging tarps and hammocks.

How to choose Prusik diameter?

  • In most cases, the Prusik cord should be about 60% to 80% of the standing line (main rope) in diameter.
  • Skinnier cords will have a too-tight bite, Thicker cords in opposite can't generate enough grip on the standing line and tends to slip.
  • For safety, always take tests of the Prusik knot to slide and re-grab on the rope in safe places prior to using it at height.

Decent prusik for the money. Full disclosure... I have not rappelled with it yet. Just bought it for an emergency decent/escape/rescue kit. It seems well made with good stitching. A prusik is not a primary brake mechanism in most cases, but more of a fail safe used as a backup to your belay device. I think this one is adequate for that purpose.

We bought this for a basement hoisting job. It worked great, but was a little longer, we found, than we needed. If you're hoisting with your blocks close together, you might want a 13" prusik. We made it work, and it got the job done.

This was easy for me being a beginner saddle hunter. I made a prusik on a 11 mm static line and it Is very strong. Love the product and I will buy more from this company.

Used them yesterday in a State Certificate ROPE rescue class. Though not NFPA, they worked better than some of the NFPA stuff. FYI i backed it up. Easy to use, firefighter proof, new student proof, excellent. Held up to 3 days of hard use, with no problem.

So far, this little loop of cord does the what it's title suggests. I have not used it enough to rate wear and tear. The rope seems to be made of a sturdy and durable climbing grade material. Using it on an 11mm climbing rope, I found that the shorter loop gives me a 3 wrap prusik with just enough lengh left to clip in. The longer loop gives me a 3 wrap prusik with about a foot left of cord to clip in. The rope is a bit stiff, but this might change after more use. You have to make sure to properly adjust the knot and pull it tight before attaching anything. I'm also unsure if the plasic covering near the end of the loop is supposed to be left on. Taking it off would make one continuous loop with two ends sewn together.
