The upgraded MCU is used in conjunction with a re-designed mainboard that further increases the computing capability and increases the data storage. The upgrades not only improve the running of LUA scripts, it also optimizes overall performance like voice speech outputs.

This transmitter replaces my Taranis X9D (pre 2019) model which is no longer in working order. Overall I like this new one very much. The build quality is better than on the older one. Functionally, it is similar to the older one so the learning curve for me was very short. Having a familiarity with OpenTX is necessary otherwise there will be a long steep learning curve. A computer is also necessary to back up the operating system and model files. This transmitter is very good for flying radio controlled airplanes and gliders.

This Transmitter was way better than I had expected. At this time I am only using it to do Drone Racing type simulators but it connected without any problems. It was easy to setup and has lots of great built in options. The best was how fast it connects to my Windows 10. I just plugged it in, adjusted the settings and it was ready for the games. It is fully plug and play and the great part you can even plug it into the computer while the games are running and it will recognize the controller on the fly. I am very happy with this radio.

I regret this purchase.I'm getting back into the hobby of racing drones after a 5-year hiatus. I knew that all my old equipment would be dated, but I had no idea how much everything had changed in 5-years.So I decided to purchase top of the line, and after lots of thought went with this FrSky X9D+ SE.But I didn't expect that I would get an incomplete product. For the price it should be fully integrated with everything needed to make it work. It does not. This radio comes with no instructions, not even a link to an online manual. It really should have a comprehensive user manual, because not only are key ingredients not included with the radio, but navigating through the nested menus is non-intuitive.First, it comes with no battery just an empty battery case. Every transmitter I've ever purchased comes equipped with a special, rechargeable battery. Not this one.Next I discovered that the firmware was quite dated. The radio comes with no instructions to help walk a beginner through the complex process of updating both firmware and bootloader. Never mind, I thought, there must be plenty of YouTube videos that can help me with that. Wrong again. Because this is the newest and greatest, I found hardly anything that could help me.Third, it comes with no embedded micro SD card even though most of the useful functions advertised on this radio require it. So, no worries, I have lots of micro SDs. Wrong again. All mine are 64 and 128 gig. This radio doesn't support anything larger than 32 gig. I finally found an old 4 gig SD out of a discarded smartphone. Then I discover that the Micro SD port was defective. The cards, no cards, will seat in it. So I sent it back for replacement.Once the replacement arrived I was ready to upgrade all the firmware, bootloader and SD card contents. It is only then that I discovered that FrSky's recent ACCESS upgrade changed the encryption to prevent users from binding 3rd-party FrSky-compatable receivers. This means that I can now no longer fly any of my whoops, micro quads or even my old racing drone because it has an old style FrSky receiver. This means the purchase of a new micro controller and receiver and an external module that will allow the binding of my tiny drones.I wish I had known!Instead of paying $400 combined for the radio, new battery, receiver and module, I should have spent $100 and gotten a fully functional radio that would serve my needs for years to come. Before you purchase this radio, be sure you re prepared to deal with the added expense and hassle required to make it work.

This doesn't bind to Tiny Whoop drones or any drone that uses ACCT 2.x. This is a business decision by the manufacturer. It helps the parent company and forces customers to more exclusively use their products. I'll never pay another dime to FrSky.The radio is great as far as comfort and use goes, so if you only use FrSky products then it works as well as any of their other radios.

This radio is fantastic, but I had to be patient to work out a few issues related to firmware. Documentation is poor, but community covers for this lack. A lot of learnings come from trial and error. I was able to solve all issues I had with the firmware version as shipped. So a great system but not for who wants something that works out of the box.

Advertising needs to mention that you will NEED a home computer and you MUST be very computer literate to get this system up and running... It comes to you as basicly an blank motherboard and USER must download all programming and protocols. IT IS NOT A BUY AND FLY RADIO.... Now once youve figured out HOW to program this radio, it does some amazing things. If your not good with a computer, this is NOT for you. Im ok with computers and it took me almost a month of evenings, to figure it out....

Brand new in the box in perfect condition this radio is fantastic the gimbals are super smooth you do have to take it apart to get the ratcheting feature out very common. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to learn more of the transmitter side of things if this broke I would buy the exact same one
