Fowler has been around for a long time, US company, but now everything they sell seems to come from China. HOWEVER, this is actually a quite good caliper. Holds zero, smooth, accurate. I have inch calipers from B&S, Starrett, the US-made ones from years ago. The Fowler is almost as good at a fraction of the price. Accuracy, at least over the 25 and 50mm span my (inch) gauge blocks will show, is spot-on. The price is great. BTW, Fowler web site price is double the AZ price, same model. I've given up on electronic calipers, the batteries always die just when you need them. Learn to read a vernier or analog dial caliper, it's not hard and it will always work!

I tested these with a few feeler gauges and they hit the mark on every one. Spot on accuracy and tight construction. Im comfortable trusting this caliper.

This 12” caliper works for my needs. I have had 0 issues with the accuracy even at larger dimensions.

My son needed these for his new job. These work just fine, but the blades are a tad short for his needs. They are at their limit for his needs. They work. That's what matters. He can always buy a high dollar set in the future if he desires.

Top 3 dial calipers out there, love the blue brushed metal around the gauge. Easy to use, material feels expensive and nice

We needed one sturdy set of calipers for odd jobs over 6" long and these work fine. They're rugged and easy to read. They're not as smooth as premium brand calipers. Even new, the readings bounce by +/- 0.002" like the rack and pinion are worn. For long measures, they're more than good enough for our in house parts, but not likely good enough for a job shops that need 0.001 repeatability.

This is a 150 mm dial caliper, made of stainless steel (no plastic parts that I can see), and with perfect accuracy. I chose dial calipers, because I see no reason to complicate things with a battery and an electronic readout when perfection is achieved with a simple needle and dial on a geared mechanism. This will never fail, and never require batteries!I have a dial caliper in fractions of an inch, another by Browne & Sharpe which has one-thousandthds of an inch, and this one in millimeters. I buy calipers with only one measurement system on the dial, because I'm not ever going to need fractions of an inch at the same time that I'm reading millimeters, and the same with thousandths of an inch. No need to try to put them all on the same dial. Just have a different caliper for each. This makes reading it very easy; your eyes do not have to sort out the meaningless information to find the answer. So, this is a single-readout measuring tool, in .02 millimeters, which is exactly what I wanted. It has a yellow dial, which I wanted to distinguish it from my other calipers. This makes it easy to identify, and the yellow is actually easy to read. The mechanism is smooth and silky. It could be by Browne & Sharpe, there is nothing cheap about it. I have accidentally dropped it 4 feet, and it seems unaffected by the drop, proving that it is indeed shockproof as labeled. This is a nice instrument, and I'm very pleased to have this. I don't know if Fowler merely put their name on an instrument made by someone else -- as appears to be the case -- but I commend them on selling a high-quality caliper that feels as good as any that I own, and I do own the best.
