UPDATE: I bought a second one of these so I could have both my Fluke289s report back to my iPhone. The use case is that I wanted to watch the current measured on one and the voltage measured on another. The iPhone app shows both devices and you can select one but not both. When you select both it says that you can't connect to two similar devices. This is yet another really absurd shortcoming. I have plenty of apps that can make simultaneous connections to multiple, similar devices, this is not a limitation of technology but some sort of arbitrary decision that was made by the developers of the app. I bet they don't allow for two devices with the name "289" to be displayed at the same time. And funnily, while they do allow you to change that name, and I changed one to 289A and the other to 289B, the app doesn't actually save those names, and I end up with 289 for both. This is very frustrating.I was hoping that Fluke would provide some basic but modern capabilities to their nice multimeters using the connector and this app. While I still think that their multimeters rock, I find that their talent at designing and producing a smartphone app is laughable and this app does not even rate as mediocre.Yes, you can see the value that is on your multimeter, all the way on your phone which can be 20meters away. That's good. But they just left it at that. What I expected from a Fluke smartphone app:- a graph of the last hour of readings, or better yet, last hours. There's a record feature, and it will show you a small graph of the timespan recording was going on, but you can't really zoom into it or do anything useful with it, and when it's gone off the screen, good luck trying to get it back.- alarms when the value you are observing exceeds or drops over or below thresholds (that you draw by dragging bars up and down in the display). You could even have multiple thresholds in each direction with different tones.- allow me to save a log of all the values each second, or every n seconds (or even faster), and let me import into Excel or run my own program to find the condition I am looking for. In fact, if this were available, I’d buy more multimeters, and have them each record some other aspect of my circuits, and have the logs all go into the same file. Then I could write a program that would look at the watts (one multimeter reports voltage, the other amps), or look at the temperature and current, or ... Not only would it sell more multimeters, but it would prevent some of the loss of sales to PC and laptop-based competitors.Basically, Fluke has completely "phoned it in with this smartphone app"; they've done the absolute minimum to qualify as a helpful utility, and stopped there.

Setup was really simple. The Fluke app is a little clumsy and geared for technicians, not engineers. I was able to place the Fluke in a risky environment that I wasn't comfortable holding the probes in place and reading- it worked flawlessly. My second application was working on a friend's bottling line, I had the meter attached in the control panel. I was able to force the battling line sensors in various states and read the meter remotely- this would have been a two person operation without this tool.

Although I receive a 1st one that was defective, I'm still giving 5 stars because Amazon Customer Service has reacted instantaneously ! The minute I filled the return form, they put a replacement one in the mail and got it the next day. The device itself work great, give very precise reading on my cell and react with no noticeable lag between the mounted display and the readout on the app. All my instruments are Fluke and although they are sometimes pricey compared to other brands they worth every penny. FYI, I paired that IR3000FC with a 289...

I am a ‘tool guy’ have been a big fan of fluke equipment for years. I am Very disappointed by this product.Delivered with no instructions in box. Tried plugging it into my 289 meter but app did not recognize. After searching on web I found a video that went through setup (which is simple). Managed to get app to recognize device but could not make reliable connection, continual ‘spinning dial’.Called Fluke customer support, the guy said I should put it back in box and return, that this was crap product.

I need the features of the 289 and now I have remote viewing on android and iPad, saves much time, many steps and can add safety. I am impressed with the range in environments with steel control panels, I assume this range is due to the fact that the data rate is low compared to BT audio and a few dropped frames don't mater.

The fluke ir3000fc is a good product. It does what is supposed to.The connection is almost insatntaneous once the Fluke Connect app works. The app allows up to 10 devices transmitting information to one cellphone. So far so good. The not-so-good has to do with the Fluke Connetct app.-Requires registration, supposedly to send the information to a cloud.-Requires android 4.3 or higher.-It is not possible to send information from one equipment and visualize itin several cellphones at the same time. There are better apps that handle with multimeters with bluetooth capabilities, requiring lower versions of android.
