I actually got this to grow some aquarium plants in and keep the fish from eating them. It's been working great! My plants can grow nice roots and not be destroyed. It also works great for rooting Pothos and spider plants in an aquarium.

This breeding box is small and ideal for small fish, made of transparent acrylic plastic and comes with Yellow floating foam. Comes with hatching box, isolation box, two anti-scape lids and two dividers. Instruction manual in English and German,The breeder comes with the hatching box that its inserted in the isolation box after placing the divider, there are two dividers to choose from depending on the fries size, fine or coarse. Those are placed at the bottom to ensure fries are well kept. On the top the anti-scape lid can be placed if desired. In ideal cases to breed, just need to place the assembled breeder in the water, the floating foam will do its work keeping in the surface, if there is air bubbles and filtration system, the water may move the breeder around, it’s recommended to keep in one corner and secured so fish can find a calm place.Gently place the fish inside the hatching box, once eggs are laid or baby fish gives birth, need to remove the mother/father fish to prevent them to eat the fries/eggs. The baby fish can swim through the coarse-hole divider to the isolation box. Its recommended to remove promptly the hatching box with the mother/father to give enough space and oxygen to the fries. This box is very easy to use, and an excellent tool for fish fans for breeding, but it also can be used to isolate fish when they are sick too. Very recommended.

I got this breeder box to try out because I thought one of my guppies was pregnant and about to give birth. After a week of monitoring, it turned out the fish was just overfed and bloated from the excessive amount of food I had been dumping into the tank. That aside, the breeder box arrived in a decently sized box, though there wasn't much packing material. Since it's made of acrylic, I was concerned it might be damaged during shipping. Luckily, it arrived with no issues. To be fair, the acrylic breeder boxes are actually pretty well made. You get two boxes—one for hatching and one for isolation. They can be used together or independently. Each box comes with its own lid and divider, as well as a removable foam insert. There was a manual included that explains the parts, but I found the images on the product listing to be clearer and more helpful.Since my fish wasn’t actually pregnant, I didn’t get to test how well it separates the mother fish from the fry. However, I’ve used similar breeder boxes in the past that function the same way and worked well, so I expect this one should perform just as reliably.Unlike other breeder or isolation boxes I’ve used that attach to the glass or hang off the side of the tank, these float freely. This isn’t a problem in a smaller tank, but in my 75-gallon long tank, which has a hood and a spray bar, the box tends to float around and sometimes ends up at the far end of the tank where I can’t easily access it without removing the hood. The boxes themselves are not particularly large—about 3.5" in length and width—making them suitable for small tanks and small fish. Due to their size, I wouldn’t recommend using them to hold fish long term. The larger box holds about 0.25 gallons and the smaller one around 0.2 gallons. I do like that three sides of the box have slits for water flow, while the fourth side is clear for easy viewing.Overall, these are great acrylic breeder/isolation boxes. They’re small but sufficient for temporary isolation or breeding purposes. Their compact size means they aren't distracting and don't take up too much space in the tank. However, I do wish there was an option to secure them, as they tend to float into hard-to-reach corners—especially in larger setups like mine. At $14 (at the time of writing), the price is slightly higher than similar products, so I'm knocking off one star for that.

Looks good and decent sized for many species of aquarium fish. Made to float, not suction to the tank. Build quality was pretty good for this type of product and there are several ways to use it, depending on species of fish and how they spawn/give birth, improving the functionality over other types I've used. Would work well for guppies, platies, other small livebearers, egg scatterers like neons and white cloud minnows and female Bettas for the early courtship.

This floating breeding box has been a great help while my guppy gave birth. The acrylic is sturdy and clear, so it’s easy to keep an eye on the fish. Setup was quick, and all the included parts made it hassle-free. I like that it has both a breeding area and a separate isolation section, with good water flow to keep oxygen levels up. As long as the foam ring stays above halfway, it floats well, otherwise, it might tilt a bit. The anti-escape lids are a nice touch, and the modular design makes it easy to adapt to different tank setups. Perfect for breeding, or for isolating sick or aggressive fish. Matches the description and works as expected.
