These days it can be difficult to know how a grading company such as PSA is justifying the grade they give. Amongst all 4 features they do grade, centering remains the most quantifiable. This tool works very well to show you how centered the cards in your collection are. Easy to use and inexpensive, it can save you money in the long run. If you card is not well-centered, then you may not wish to run the risk of sending in a modern card and getting a score lower than 8/9 (depending upon on how much of a “banger” the card is, of course, or other factors such as 1/1 status). Well worth the quick investment and short amount of time it takes to use this tool to gauge the centering.

Got these Cards to help determine whether a card was centered - but no instructions, and the Numbers were difficult to read regardless of the viewing angle.

This is a great tool for finding the centering on certain cards. It can be hard to figure given how small the text is. The concept is simple, just line up your card underneath and check the edges and see if the number scale is the same. There's also a guide sheet that comes with it that you can check to see where the scaling falls in terms of grading peremiters. If you get two 5's then your card would have 50/50 grading !

I have spent a lot of money on cards sent to PSA, and using this tool helps me figure out what cards will actually reach grade 10. This tool works great and is very inexpensive.
