Lots of trees down after a recent wind storm, so my dad wanted to see if a wood splitter would make the job any easier to split big pieces into kindling for the fireplace. Note that you will need to find a spot to secure it to, as shown in the photo. What better place than an old log if you have property where you can do so. My dad got to work practicing with his new toy. Took a few tries to get his form down, but he eventually started to split the wood into fairly even pieces, but it took some effort to grasp the technique. It seems sharpe enough, but maybe a little on the small side. Overall he’s decided it’s more of a fun toy rather than something super functional to make the job of splitting wood much faster or easier.

I purchased this to try out on some freshly cut maple (a tree that fell from the remnants of the recent hurricane). This thing works amazingly. I screwed it down onto the stump and then went into splitting mode. This split logs 20" across with much less effort than my normal method of axe splitting. This is one great design - I will get tons of use from it.
