This remote control system is designed for use with a millivolt or 24V gas valve system. Do not use this remote control system on applications with voltages above 24 Volts AC/DC and 1 amp current.

Safe Distance Please keep a safe distance between the receiving module and the flame to avoid melting.

Temperature Error The error between the remote control and the room temperature is usually 1-2°F, and the remote control detects the room temperature at 3-minute intervals. The farther away from the flame, the greater the temperature error, when the battery power is too low will cause the error to increase.

Appliance Does Not Come On 1.Causes:Wiring / electrical connections faulty. Action: Slide the switch to ON, if appliance comes ON, wiring is not the cause. If appliance does not come on, check wiring connections.
Appliance Does Not Come On 2.Causes:DIP (Privacy) switch setting on transmitter does not match receiver Action:Make sure the transmitter and receiver have the same DIP switch settings.
Appliance Does Not Come On 3.Causes:Transmitter measures temperature exceeding 99 degrees and shows “HI” on LCD disply. Action:Move transmitter to a cooler place and wait until temperature drops below 99 degree.
Appliance Does Not Come On 4.Causes:Distance between the transmitter and receiver is more than 20 feet. Action:Make sure the operating distance is less than 20 feet

This controller worked perfectly with my gas log set. Simple to install. I use it to thematically control the log set to keep the room at a set temperature. It is accurate to within one degree F. The controller that came with the log set, that was replaced with this unit would not turn off until 3 degrees over the set temperature. This one is also much easier to set using the up and down arrows on the controller,

Seems like every other year one of my gas log sets fail to work. Usually a thermopile has gone bad, this year the receiver failed to work. Could not say if it was the remote or receiver, but this replaced both and plugged into the receiver cable without any changes. Wala back in business.

I bought this to replace an identical, but different brand, fireplace remote control that stopped working. I can’t say how old the previous unit was; it came with the house we bought five years ago. Installation was just a matter of installing batteries, unplugging the old receiver unit and plugging in the new. I debated whether to give four stars or five. Everything works as designed but I have a couple minor complaints about the design. When installing the four AA batteries in the receiver there is no indicator of which end is positive and negative. By convention, a spring makes contact with the negative side of the battery, was true here. The LCD does not have adequate contrast; a result of the designer choosing a cheaper display. An e-ink display would have been much nicer. The bottom of the unit is not totally flat and thus it easily falls over. I solved this problem by sanding the bottom of plastic case flat. When increasing or decreasing the temperature setting, it would often jump two degrees at a time, due to insufficient denounce hardware or software.Hints for operation: Holding the transmitter unit in your hand causes it to warm up and give an incorrect room temperature. Set it down quickly after changing the setting. To avoid leaky batteries damaging the unit, use name brand batteries and remove them from both the receiver and transmitter when they won’t be used for a long period of time, i.e. during spring and summer. Also note that if no batteries are installed, the receiver unit can still be used to manually ignite the flame by flipping the switch from OFF, past RS, and then ON.

My fireplace switch is in a really awkward, hard to reach spot. I finally ordered this product and was able to install it easily in place of the on/off switch. The remote works great and I love that I can now set it to turn off after a certain temperature. I have several thermometers in my living room and it does a pretty accurate job of tracking the temperature.
