We had a lot of shredding to do and our old machine was pooched. Bought the Amazon brand first, but it jammed up with no obvious issue so returned. $15.00 more bought this one. Considerably stronger power and finished our on and off job in about 2 days. Runs more quietly than the previous one as well. Neither will handle more than one sheet of shredding realistically. Ok for occasional stuff that's stapled together, but runs much slower then.

Well this is the second one i bought. I needed to get another one because i made a mistake. This machine works great and totally shreds, even credit cards. But not all credit cards. You see ,we canceled a card for mysterious charges, and the in the statement that came with the new card, it said, "don't put the old card in a shredder because it may damage it." I thought our shredder would eat it up like it had done, with others, in the past. Well it jammed up. I took it all apart cleaned it out and put it back together. It did not work and i deemed it completely destroyed. It eats cards, but not ones with chips. This shredder does not eat chips. The good news is the first purchase with the new card was this new shredder. I'm calling it my friend chip. Chip shreds but not chips. I guess you are not what you eat. This is a good buy. Good by. Duane (not the rock) Update.. After explaining what happned,and plead my case, Fellowes offered to replace the shredder. Super good customer service even if it was my fault.

My first shredder was a Fellowes shredder that was great and lasted for years. When it broke, I was looking for a bargain and bought a Staples OmniTech shredder with a rebate that was an offer I couldn't refuse. Though the Staples shredder was marketed as a 14-sheet shredder, it would jam when feeding only 2 sheets through. Still it lasted for years, jamming frequently and under-performing. When some of the plastic pieces (separating the blades) broke, I was optimistic about replacing the Staples shredder with a Fellowes. I just received this Fellowes shredder today, and it's 10 times better than the Staples OmniTech. Feeding 10 sheets is no problem. It's a lot less noisy than the Staples, and I can see no flaws. I've shredded several files with brief pauses, and there's been no sign of over-heating so far. Very pleased with this new addition to my home office. Give it a shot!

Needed a shredder to replace my aging cheapo model. Was familiar with the SafeSense feature from work, and was happy to find this model at a reasonable price. SafeSense was an absolute must for me to increase the safety when youngsters visit. I got tired of unplugging the shredder when we had guests.This model has a large capacity, and seems to handle paper well. I normally shred 3-5 sheets at a time, so I was happy with the 10-sheet "design" capacity, it had no trouble. As other have mentioned, it has a head unit that lifts off, so it is a little top heavy. I would have liked the door and internal basket but from work I know that is more difficult to clean out and it's going to cost twice as much. So I'm OK with this design, would definitely buy it again (I actually bought three, tired of doing all the shredding for my kids!) I also have not tried bags in there yet, but it cleans up easily.While this model seemed noisier than I expected right out of the box, it seems to have settled down now and is tolerable. Planning to oil it regularly and that may quiet it down a bit.Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, seems solidly build, and I expect it will last for a while.

We absolutely love this shredder. As of September 2016 we've been using it for almost a year and haven't had any problems with it. We love the child safety features - there are two power switches as well as a sensor around the opening that will turn it off if it senses a hand nearby. This gives us great peace of mind since we have a young daughter in our house. It also shreds credit cards (and other similar items) with ease and doesn't get jammed easily which we really appreciate since our old shredder seemed to constantly jam.The one downside we have found is the bin is not quite large enough for our liking. We tend to wait and shred a large amount of papers at once and the bin fills up quickly. However, this is not really a major issue at all, it can just be annoying if you are doing a lot of shredding at once. It also cuts the paper into rectangles instead of diamonds which is just something to be aware of because you could potentially still see information on the paper depending on how you insert it into the shredder.Overall though we are very happy with our purchase and would recommed this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced shredder that is also safe and works well.

This shredder does an EXCELLENT job for an excellent price (compare prices at Staples and Office Depot) and I can happily give it the highest recommendation! We've owned it for over a month now and it's done an excellent job of shredding 5 LARGE bags of shred over a few days with no issues. The unit jammed a couple of times (not its fault) and clearing it was a relatively easy process. We only hit the cool down period a couple of times and each time we did, the 20-minute period was accurate (give or take a few minutes). The unit's master power switch in the back is easily reached and makes for an additional safety feature that's appreciated in our home. Even without that switch, though, the unit's paper slot is thin enough to give a good measure of protection from the accidental finger slip and it has an auto-sensing feature for even that. Again, this one comes highly recommended and we'd buy it, again.

This product is working well for us. I am using Canola oil to oil it after each time I empty the basket. I had a small bottle from another shredder that we did not oil, until it was too late. The Fellowes Shredder works well, it will chop up credit cards and paper easily. However, I decided to not do more than 3 pages at a time. It does the job for us. Delivery was on time, as promised.
