At first glance, the FeiyuTech Scorp 2 is a seemingly unassuming gimbal that may not look much different than many other similar products out there. Once you get familiar with its features and design, however, Scorp 2’s uniqueness stands out. The Scorp 2 has a built-in sensor that tracks subjects autonomously, which is more than capable of handling its task, as it competently keep up with the movements of the subject, and it is very snappy. But this is nothing new and other gimbals also offer this feature. There’s the trigger and its quick set functions, like double tapping to center the rig, and triple to quickly switch to the selfie mode. Again, this is nothing new, it’s something we have come to expect. There are little details in the design that make this product stand out. There are adjustable, sliding red dots that mark the balance points of the axis arms so you can quickly snap them into position. And the most stand out design feature has got to be the secondary grip handle that angles up toward the user, behind the main pistol grip. The ability to two-hand hold the gimbal adds to the overall stability of the rig, especially when you have a heavier load such as a mirrorless camera with a longer zoom lens. I found this design so useful and smart, that I’m surprised it’s not offered by all gimbals.A quick kudos for the gimbal’s namesake “scorpion” legs to enable you to set down the unit without the use of its tripod (with the upwardly turned rear handle it does resemble the menacing arachnid). This is a huge plus, as I often do not want the encumbrance of the extended length while in use.The battery life is decent, though not something incredible, as it is a 2500 mAh capacity. In my experience, the battery life fell short of the advertised 13 hours of use. But of course the heavier the payload, the shorter the battery expectancy would be. It offers a quick charge via its USB-C port (which is clearly marked for charging), which is nice, but again, expected in 2024. The F2 button on the right side locks the control screen to prevent accidental setting changes, which is a cool feature.Aside from all of the above mentioned features, FeiyuTech also offers accessosories like wireless follow focus kit that you can attach to this unit as an option, which would make the Scorp 2 even more versatile.Overall, this gimbal is a highly capable, well constructed, and sturdy piece of equipment. I can think of no better place to start your journey as a videographer than with this gimbal to aid you. By itself, it offers an impressive stability, and when coupled with your camera’s IBIS and post stabilization, the images you get will be rock solid. Scorp 2 is one solid product. Highly recommended.

So far, my impression on this gimbal is fantastic. From set up to filming, the process is extremely simple and easy-going. The motors are very powerful to hold your camera and specific lens while keeping everything super steady.Balancing the gimbal was a very easy process and the instructional videos linked in the instruction manual are very simple to follow to get your camera balanced. One tip is to balance the camera ready to go without the lens cap on. This changed my balance when I balanced it with the lens cap on so make sure you balanced it without the lens on like you are ready to shoot. The data cables that it comes with work for all cameras and it’s a simple process to plug-in play and give your camera controls to the gimbal. The grip with the controls makes it very functional and very easy to use while also giving you plenty of controls when you need it.I am thoroughly impressed by this and I can’t wait to continue to use it more and figure out more functionality that’s built-in into the gimbal. I’m very excited for this product and the build quality is superb.
