Most of these otc agents don't seem to work on my horses. Better to get something from my vet which DID work.

I bought this supplement in hopes that it would help calm my 19 year-old mare down when the farrier came as she seems to be getting a little more high strung as she ages. I followed the (easy) instructions, but it didn't seem to work. If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate the feedback.

We have an 8 year old, 18 hand Percheron that is a typically teenage boy. LOL. We have a large teaching farm with a LOT of kids visiting and this helps calm him a bit! Works great!

i tried a different calming supplement a head of time when trailering my horse to a new barn about 1/2 hour away. we gave her this calming supplement the mare when we go to the new barn to calm her down was she got just crazy and literally was running around in a small pasture. we were so afraid for her as there was not the space in the small pen to be running around like she was. not a good look to the people at the new barn. it took 2 of us to get her out of the pen, one lead rope on each side. we put her in the stall to calm down. The second time i gave it to her, thinking maybe it was this on that caused the issue. I was going to sell the mare and i wanted her nice and calm while the buyers that just drove 10 hours to come pick her up and trailer her to there home. this caused her to go just crazy and dangerous behavior. They thought she had to much energy and to lunge her and we could get the energy down. She was rearing when on the lung line and not behaving. standing on the lead rope she kept putting the rope in her mouth. she was nipping and trying to bite the new owners. it was awful behavior and the buyers said they wanted their money back and couldn't trailer a horse acting like that and her aggressive behavior was just dangerous and they were not buying a horse that was bitting and rearing.

I bought a couple of these tubes of calming paste in anticipation of the 4th of July. We have a lot of fireworks that go off all around my pasture and I wanted to be sure that my mare was calm. The year before, she ran a lot and was pretty stressed out and I was worried she might try to run through the fence. Also, her pasture mate was off at the trainers this year, and she was in the pasture by herself this time, and she's a lot calmer with another horse in the pasture with her. Since she wouldn't have her pasture mate to help her feel not so alone, I dosed her according to the instructions before the fireworks got started. I didn't have expectations that this paste would "sedate" her, as I know this is NOT a sedation drug. But I did see a marked difference in her behavior and when the fireworks were going off, she stayed quietly in the back of the pasture and didn't run around and didn't seem overly stressed out. She was still stressed - and I can't control what the neighborhoods do around me, but at least she wasn't running and seemed better able to self regulate herself. I walked out there several times during that night, and she came up to me, and wasn't overly reactive, so that was very nice to see. I will use it again if I need something to knock the edge off - and I suspect the next 4th of July.
