This is a great affordable chess set. My daughter is using it to make a custom Digital Circus chess set. She is using air dry clay and making the characters from the show. This is a great project for a bored teen/tween. The pieces are very lightweight so they work perfectly with the clay.

Bought this to teach my son how to play. He loves chess now. Everything was great.

My grandsons have begun to learn and play chess, and my wife wanted to learn a bit in order to encourage their playing. I had given away a pair of chess sets that I had acquired over the years to my two grandsons. So we did not have anything at home any more! This set is a quite affordable basic offering for anyone starting out. The included "rule sheet" left much to be desired. But frankly, it is futile to try to explain chess in a single page instruction sheet!I'd recommend this set to anyone who wants to begin to learn the game and who needs a basic set with the classic chess piece designs!

Bought this for my brother. He liked it. In fact right now as I'm writing this review, he's using it. He looked up some Internet chess puzzles/games and uses them as references to play this chess set. A good buy. Highly recommend. Pieces are sturdy, game board is visually appealing and will last long.

I got these to play with my friends to practice casually. I found other similar ones in the market but the price were somewhat higher than I wanted since I just wanted to practice. This was perfect for me since the board and pieces were standard size. I would recommend this to everyone who just wants a basic chess set for their kids or themselves. This is the best chest set I found for the price range this has. Would definitely recommend to others if they are looking for a similar size.

Let's start with the positives: the pieces are solid and mostly reasonably sized (though the pawns seem a bit smaller than I'd expect). The board is a reasonable size in terms of length and width, with dark brown and off-white squares. In short, if you brought out this chess set to play with a friend, it wouldn't impress anyone, but it's not distractingly small/cheap.On the minus side, a few things:- First and foremost, the board is thin. It's not as flimsy as the No Stress Chess board, but it's about half as thick as I'd expect a board game board to be.- Second, and likely the more practical concern, is that the box is flimsy paperboard, much more like a cereal box than a board game box. I'm not confident it will survive many uses.- Third, and most concerning: the contents of the box clearly don't match the picture on the box. From the board margin, to the logos, to the color of the board, to the copyright notice on the board, it's just clearly a picture of a different product.Overall, the impression I get is that Pressman used to make decent toy chess sets, and someone figured out how to wring a few extra pennies per box, and just reused the old picture. It's a real shame that with just a little thicker cardboard in a few places and a plainer design, they could have had a great value chess set. Instead, they saved pennies and made something that's fine to play with but makes me grumble a little every time I reach for it.

This was for my daughter and she fonds it very easy to play as she can recognize the pieces better than other chessboard games

It’s just a typical board game type of cardboard chessboard and the chess pieces are ok. Nothing fancy but it’s a cheaper price too, so a good beginner set. I Wish that at least the cardboard packaging is a bit sturdier because that holds everything and is super flimsy
