3mm helicoils were more difficult to find. These only provide one diameter of engagement. There was no information on length in the specs. These helicoils are too short to develop the full screw strength when tapping material weaker than the screw material.

These baseplates are no longer made (branded ones) and are super soft metal so they strip easily. I decided to give this a try based on another users review and it worked perfectly. If you have a Schaller Licensed tremolo this is the one you want, it's the right length and everything seeing as how the baseplates on these are only 3mm thick. I lazily did this with a drill and some WD-40 as a cutting fluid. Awesome!

Although the install tools are easy to use and seem to be of good quality the inserts are trash, the installation tangs do not break off like a helicoil brand insert, I am trying to fix a hole on my 3d printer extruder with a hole through a wall but the tangs just push out the back side taking the insert right with it. I would never by this brand again as the kit came with 10 inserts, the first 6 have been failures. Doing a return as they are junk!!

Install went well, super easy and worked well except the breaking off the tab in the last step didn’t work for me. Seems to function fine though. Some others note you can use this to repair intonation screw hole in a Floyd Rose style tremolo, but you’ll find that those base plates are 6mm thick. So this 3mm kit will only get you half the threads possible. Yes maybe it’ll work, but a better choice is a 6mm deep kit, about the same price.

The kit comes with everything you need to install the thread insert, plus 10 inserts. The tools are made in Taiwan and China while the inserts come from the U.K. The instructions are clear and precise. I've installed many of these and never had a failure. The quality is very good. They work in steel, cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel and just about any metal you can name. I've even installed them in acetel plastic. I highly recommend the E-Z Lok kits. I have 2 master kits, one in fractional and one in metric but they do not include the 3 and 4 mm sizes. If you intend to do many sizes the master kits are more cost effective.

I used the Helicoil kit, with Red Loc-tite at a comp to fix my stripped Yota 2 axle bolt. This kit is MONEY. I keep it in my comp gear as it has not let me down. This is the only thing I use Red Loctite on regarding RC vehicles. Watch the RC4WD D-90 perform on my Rekkr RC Youtube channel.

Bought this to repair stripped screw holes in a Schaller Floyd rose trem on a used guitar I just purchased. It took a steady hand when tapping the threads in the base plate to insert the coil, but it worked out great, and I didn't have to replace the entire base plate. There are extra coils in the package so you can do more if needed. The holes in all floyds take the same size screws so this is useful in many ways, especially if you like to buy used guitars and you can't immediately tell if there is anything funky with the bridge until you try to intonate it.

Works just fine. I was skeptical of the quality due to the price difference compared to other tool companies. I have used it 5-6 times so far and it has worked as hoped. I use this size to repair Floyd Rose Tremolo bridges on guitars that have striped saddle bolts.
