Unfortunately this product doesn’t record minimum, maximum, average, and instantaneous readings for every interval. All you get is an instantaneous reading at each interval. This makes it pretty useless. You can’t do a 30 day load study due to no averaging and you’re very limited on troubleshooting power problems due to no triggers or minimum and maximums being recorded during the intervals

Software terrible. Switches itself off randomly

I want to say first, the people that complained about this meter being made of cheap plastic, need to compare it to most testing instruments. The quality of the plastic used is of the same quality of any other. The only thing they could have done better is to install a silicon type cover for shock protection. The fact is, you should take care of any kind of quality instrument. Wake up and stop griping. You only make yourself sound ignorant. With that said, the reason I purchased this instrument, was to show my electrical provider that it was there incoming power to my home that was causing the issue with power surges, not my end. There linemen came out and did a quick check of the pole and a load test at my meter base and it showed good. After receiving the Extech DL160, I took my readings at the input lines of my main disconnect directly after my meter base. It showed no issue across L1 and L2, but when tested from the neutral to L1 and L2 it showed an issue. Large 30 plus volt spikes. Narrowed it down to the neutral as expected.I was able to get the printouts from the meter to the power companies’s engineer, and he set out a crew right away. After some time redoing wire clamps and almost giving up, they found the neutral on the transformer lose.Without this meter, I would probably still be fighting the power company to fix there problem.I don’t know if I’ll ever use this meter again, but it was well worth the money to save my own electronics, etc in my home and the satisfaction of proving to the power company it was there side causing the problem. (-: Lol

Meter came very fast with everything but the software. This is not an issue as the software is available as a download (search for Extech DL160 software download). I unzipped and installed the software however I did not install the drivers. Tech support was great and told me I had not installed the drivers. Once installed I got the User Interface. It is basic but works fine. I was able to set the time on the meter, no problem. I have set the meter up to run overnight so I can see how well it works. For the price, I am pleased with the quality as I expected it to be flimsy but it is fine for my purposes. I think it is well thought out with magnetic that allow you to stick the meter and leads on metal panel enclosures.

Bought this along with some Fluke magnetic voltage probes (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016DPE10U/) in order to monitor voltage levels and current usage. Have tested both current and voltage capabilities and both work well and seem accurate. Software feels a bit dated, but is functional. Would recommend.

I have used this for a few different reasons. One is to hook up and watch for inconsistancy of power for my customers. The other is the inconsistancy of my power bill at my own home.I don't know....... about the "accuracy" of those smart meters and how I could possibly be using the power I have to have an $850 power bill... I know how power works and what takes what to operate. so.....I've been using it recently to see the exact power consumption at what times to compare to the monopolizing corporate company that supplies my home..... this is the unit to use.Who knows... this unit may get me on 20/20

The product functions as advertised but is has two deficiencies:1. Cannot be mobile operated. You need a laptop for each startup.2. It starts measuring from 10 Ampere and the clamps are small

It does not yield any measurements if the current is in the low range. It makes it an useless instrument. One can not know if the current has become ZERO or if it simly has become low.

This is a nice piece of kit that does exactly what it says on the box.Clear easy to use with good interface to windows computer bringing up all the data you need, alowing you to save it and go back later for analysis.Feels nice in the hand & well made, hard plastic case keeps everything safe when not in use.

Manual was out of date and didn't apply correctly to the device. I had to find the manual on line and download it. Product tech support is marginal at best. On the only time it was to be used our technician could not get the analyzer to properly log transient capture even with simulated voltage dips. This should be a simple set up but it did not work. I'd return it but we've had it too long since the purchase date. It's just an expensive voltage/amperage tester.

I use this device to monitor stray AC current to my meter stations for the gas company that i work for. I will say the program is easy to use, works on all Operating systems with out any issues.Programming was easy and simple. with plenty of parts for both Voltage and Amps..Easy, simple, long battery life. no issues

The Extech 382100 worked as expected. This datalogger is very easy to use and the logged data is stored nicely as an Excel document on a SD card. This made making graphs and using the data very easy. The only thing I didn't like is the 2 second minimum interval for readings. This isn't fast enough to catch the starting amperage of a motor every time. Otherwise everything worked like a charm, saving us money and time.
